Flame Throwers: Video of crash victim saved from burning car in Utah
A Utah motorcyclist who was pinned under a burning car, expressed his gratitude on Tuesday for the help of strangers who lifted up the the 4000 pound (1.8 tonne) vehicle to rescue him, in an act of bravery captured on amateur video. Authorities said 21-year-old Brandon Wright was riding his motorcycle on Monday near the Utah State University campus in Logan when he collided with a black BMW that was pulling out of a parking lot. Tyre and skid marks on the highway indicate that Wright laid the bike down and slid along the road before colliding with the car. The bike hit the car's hood and bounced to the ground, while Wright, who was not a wearing helmet, slid under the car and then both vehicles burst into flames, police said. Wright was pinned to the ground as the flames began to engulf the car. The video shows a crowd of about 10 men and women gathering around the burning car and motorcycle as flames shoot into the air. Quickly the group places their hands on the car and starts to rock it until it tilts up on its side.Once the car is on two wheels, a construction worker can be seen dragging a spread-eagled Wright from under the car. I never ask this, but please rate and such to spread the word. Since leaving Missouri (where helmets are required by law), I have been appalled at the number of riders I see without proper gear. I would say at least 80% of riders I've seen here in the Chicago area do not have helmets, or any protective gear for that matter. What continues to surprise me is how many of these guys think they actually look good when they ride in just a t-shirt and jeans. Or no shirt. Or a helmet, with no shirt, and shorts. Why bother with the helmet? ANYway, I'm truly hoping this video convinces some of these squids to wear protective gear. If it helps save even one life, I'd be elated. Iroquois had a video where he mentioned guys who just want to "look cool" on their bikes. I think these guys fall largely in the same category.. Remember: Gear doesn't make you a nerd. It'll save your life, your skin, AND get you that girl's number. ;-)

I have seen a LOT of changes, and I have seen the effect our artwork has had on contemporary tattooing. I am uninterested in all of that. The main difference that stands out, and that I believe we had a profound influence on, but would NEVER take credit for, is the fact that Charity is now a common word in tattooing. When I started, tattooing was inundated and controlled by serious bikers, drug dealers, pimps and ho's, and charity was not a word in our vocabulary. Now I see "Toys for Tots", bike runs for fallen officers, abused animal fundraisers, donations for child cancer, in tattoo based promotion all the time. This Christmas was the best one yet for that. I clicked on one of my MySpace accounts and saw like 3000 charity events at tattoo shops. While I would never take credit for that, it is awesome to see how constant and prevalent it has become for us as an industry since I climbed in. Charity used to be a bad word that incited argument. We are all sad at the news of Sam's passing however, it's important to note that Sam was put to sleep due to a condition unrelated to the Bushfires. Her condition was 'urogenital chlamydiosis' and is caused by a infection of the intracellular bacteria in the genus Chlamydia, which is transmitted via sexual activity and also vertically to offspring. The Queensland University of Technology is developing a vaccine for the bacterial infection which is looking very promising in the trial phases. Before Green Fanatics get the chance to blame this on habitat destruction by 'invading' Europeans, let me say that researchers actually believe Chlamydia was bought into Australia by early Aboriginal tribes from Asia over 40000 years ago. It now affects approx 50% of the Koala population. The reason Sam was put down is because as the disease develops it can become quite painful.
