This Video was shot by my friend Tony Johnson on May 24, 1991 and here is the story on this video in his words. "I as filming UP action there when I head this westbound approach with a sick horn. Right after the engineer blows for the road crossing, the dynamic brakes on UP3582 blows sky high with a loud bang. In the video I said "it looks like it blew it's turdocharger", but as UP3582 rolled past me I could see a hole and fire inside the dynamic brake grid with sparks and molten metal falling onto the walkway. I mentioned that I thought the crew would call the fire department, but they didn't. I drove two miles itto Cozad and found the same UP local switching a local customer as if nothing had happen. the fire was out and the unit sounded normal. At the time UP were running their trains like streetcars on the double track mainline. I was surprised when the UP dispatcher allowed the local to get back on the main line and continue west, which i also photographed. The train got about five miles out of town and UP3582 died on the main, tying up everything. The UP dispatcher was not pleased ."

June 10, 2008: Full throttle, sanders, Leslie RS-3L... wow! NS 536, the "king of the hill" takes about 130 PPLX cars up the 1.15% grade at Carney's Road crossing, PT 253.2 on the NS Pittsburgh Line, near Lilly, PA. NS SD60I 6725 NS SD60I 6722 NS SD60I 6719 All wearing Conrail Quality paint bring up the front while a four-banger of helpers: NS SD40-2 3373 NS SD40-2 3338 "CRQ" NS SD40-2 3346 NS SD40-2 3340 Bring up the rear. The sound could be heard from miles, the thumping of the engines goes right through you, the RS-3L is not bad, although it is over blowing just a little bit giving it a harsher tone. The last scene is at the tunnel hill over look, as 536 starts to head down hill, the four-banger still sounds great, even in dynamics. This train will eventually head of the Nittany and Bald Eagle line at Tyrone, PA and is for the Pennsylvania, Power and Light plant at Strawberry Ridge. pahogger, I know you'll like this one!

**Please Watch in HD** Conrail Shared Assets train WPCA-20 heads southbound in this video shot along the Beesley Point Secondary. This move was quite rare, as these two units are assigned to CSAO WPCA-11 6 days of the week. Due to a coal train derailment and subsequent bridge repairs, the engines were not being used, thus were able to be used on WPCA-20. Leading the light engine move was CSXT #8817 still in Conrail Quality paint. CSXT SD40-2 #8855 was the second unit. The first shot was filmed in Winslow, NJ. At 1:39, you can see the siding were the Norfolk Southern 66k Stone train sits. The engines were uncoupled from the stone cars. For a night video of the stone train leaving, please see my NS 67K video. I was also able to catch WPCA-20 returning north. I set up shop in Audubon, NJ were I caught CSXT #8855 leading with its horn still mounted above the cab. On August 6, 2011, I made another Saturday Woodbourne visit. Decent day overall, more good catches then trains, in other words, quality over quantity. 10:03 AM - Q300-06 comes out of Woodbourne Yard with cars from Lansdale, with CSX CW40-8 7376 ex Conrail in YN2 leading and CSX CW40-9 9010 trailing. SEPTA 3425 makes a run westbound with Silverliner IV married pair 180 and 179. Q300 then starts their shove back towards their train. Of note, 7376 has a rather nice new cast K5LA. 3425 - West Trenton, NJ - Phl 10:24 AM - SEPTA 4316 heads eastbound with Silverliner II 201 and Silverliner II 258. 4316 - Philadelphia, PA - West Trenton, NJ 10:31 AM - Q300-06 chugs eastbound by Woodbourne after their work with the 7376 and 9010. As they rounded the curve, the signal at Wood dropped to a stop from the limited clear it was before. They were then talked by the signal by SEPTA 2. As a prototype, the SD40-2 was the most popular second-generation diesel with sales of over 3000 in the US and more than 700 in Canada. There were many variations of this popular diesel because of the long production run. The Burlington Northern amassed a fleet of 827 SD40-2's between 1972 and 1980. They started out hauling coal trains out of Wyoming's Powder River Basin and then started moving transcontinental freight between the West Coast and the Midwest. This had me completely shocked! I stopped by Montgomery, IL. for a bit to see what would show up. An eastbound Amtrak came by first, but the second train was incredible and ended up being the train of the day. A Bluebonnet (ATSF) Snoot SD40-2 and a Warbonnet (ATSF) GP60M lead a westbound empty coal train through Montgomery, Illinois on the BNSF Mendota Subdivision. Two ATSF painted locomotives on a coal train is absolutely incredible. Of course, they're BNSF owned, but I still consider them good old Santa Fe units! I like that horn too. Please rate and comment! March 12, 2008: NS SD40-2 3430 with a 5-chime RRO Leslie horn, leads 94M, an empty tie train heading to Enola, with NS GP38-2 5000 in the rear. 94M makes an unexpected stop right in front of me, MW guys showed up in their trucks and inspected the car carrying the CAT grappler. Listen to that great idle action! SD40-2's sound amazing! So does the horn! Then the train powers up and continues its move into the sunset, enjoy!

Where do I start with this one.....?This unit is an Athearn bluebox kit from 18 years ago.Back then I added a scale foot length to the nose,added Pacific Fast Mail roof (see through) vents,and handrail stanchions,handformed the handrails,and grabirons. I aslo added a speedometer cable to the sideframe,and air line tubing,as well.A Details West pilot,blower housing,and Kadee#58 "scale" couplers round it all off.Last year I added an engineer and a fireman to the cab,and a spare coupler knuckle,and re-railer.This year,I added a Soundtraxx Tsunami TSU- 1000 sound decoder,a Soundtraxx speaker,with a homemade baffle, and Miniatronics lighting (1.4v).Lastly the stock Athearn motor was rebuilt with a "skewed" armature.I am quite happy with this one!!!

Soundtraxx Tsunami "EMD 645E 16" decoder in my custom built and painted Norfolk & Western SD40-2. I think this is the definitive V16 645E sound. My only gripe is the horn that's abit lame compared to the blast of the QSI equivalent and I disabled the irritating and un realistic air dryer sperex valve noise, as it just dos'nt sound like what its suposed to be! I've also got a factory fitted QSI in an Atlas SD35, its not nearly as good as this. I also tried one from Loksound and was NOT impressed. This loco was built by myself using a Kato CNW SD38-2 chassis, motor and trucks, a Kato long hood, Cannon & Co cab and high nose kit, Cannon & Co fans, exhaust stack, etc etc and many other A-Line parts. It cost me a dam fortune and took me 6 months to build and paint by the time I got all the parts, some from the US. The shutdown clip is better than this one imo.
Here is my 400th video to come to my channel. This is a review of the Kato EMD (Electro Motive Division) SD40-2 BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) Diesel Locomotive in the HO scale which is modelled to the 1:87th gauge. This is my first US Locomotive I own from Kato and it is very nicely detailed and it looks superb when the extra parts are added as well. The model will need horns when I can get hold of some as I didn't find any inside the packet, but once I find out where I can source Kato spares for these models. I intend to fit the replacement horns to the roof. Overall Rating: 10/10
