You just have one person next to you, makes it easy to get out of your seat. Also, its right over the wing, so you're gonna feel less bumpy (as compared to the tail end). Anyways, the BA service from London to Calcutta is not bad. The meals are again great (i always order special meals - cos they are served first, hot and you probably done before others start, and dont have to jostle for elbow space). Calcutta still does not have a airchute - so you gotta walk down the ladders upon arrival and then take the bus, which calls for a nice/different experience. Loved this flight. Cheers!

Loved the timing, it took off around 10pm from JFK and landed around 9ish in the morning in London. The service was great as always. I ordered a special meal - which meant i got my meal pipping hot and before anyone else got theirs! The seats in British Airways economy class have great legroom, i have flown a number of different airlines and if i were a betting man, i would say that BA has the best eco legspace! These seats are somewhat noisy - cos you sitting behind the wings towards the tail end of the plane. All in all - this was a great flight. If you look up the stats in this flight, its always delayed. I presume its because there are so many Emirates flights flying in to connect passengers to JFK, maybe they try and delay the flight so as not leave anyone out (if possible). The duration of this flight is appox 12:30 hours. Sometimes with headwind it ticks towards 13 hours. The timing is pretty good. takes off at 2 in the morning. This video shows the taxi and take-off. You will also notice a 380 push-back. Once airborn i took a 5 and half hour nap (as you will see in the vid). Someone on the flight fell ill - and you'll also notice the crew trying to do "something" i am not sure what that orange box had inside. This is also the first time i saw the door leading to the crew rest area. And finally, a hard landing at JFK at around 8am... One one hand, it's said to be the identical length and the framework of an A340 yet it has only two engines. Seemed a little weird to me but I love the fact that it is so dam quiet. It misses the sheer rumble and power of sitting in a Boeing 777 but this has its own charm. This particular flight is a Business Class Experience on a Short/Medium Haul route from Calcutta, India to Dubai. Jan 09, 2011. A five hour flight which takes off at 9am and lands in Dubai around 2ish in the afternoon. We are served one meal (pretty nice and elaborate) but after you are served the meal you wont see the crew too much!! On this particular flight the aircraft had a three class config. but was flying two classes (so basically, as you'll see, the First Class was empty). Also, I was able to do a complete cabin walk thru and you'll notice the difference between the chilled out atmosphere in Business Class compared to the claustrophobic Economy section. I was flying Emirates but across our counter there was an Air India flight that was stranded. The passengers were scheduled to leave the previous night but due to the worst storm to hit New York all flights out of JFK were canceled. When the airport opened up, few flights were prepared to leave - Air India was not. The crew refused to fly as the aircraft as it was not cleaned. www.youtube.com - Transit at Millenium Airport Hotel for Emirates Passengers There are two parts to the hotel: the Emirates transit/layover side and the regular side for anyone wishing to stay, without a voucher from Emirates airline. The layover side is an adequate 3 star and the for regular is possibly a 4 star. For the transit part, it is more than adequate and is only a ten minute drive to and from the airport. You get a free shuttle from the airport (and the shuttle runs every 20 mins or so). On the negative side - The TV sucks. If you got a long layover you are going to get bored. Also, there is no wireles/WI FI. But you got options - there are a number of tours you can take (3hr and 6 hr tours) to get you out of the room and keep you busy (it cost about $30) On the plus side - they give you vouchers for food include buffet menu plus another voucher or two for snacks and there is a nice selection of shops and non-food voucher restaurants to chose from. Once you get into your room, its nice quiet and dark! Perfect! Night Flight) (HD) This video was shot on the day the biggest blizzard in history hit New York/JFK (The Blizzard of 2010). The JFK was shut down for nearly day and half that left thousands of pax stranded. Incidentally, this Emirates A380 was the first flight to take off once the airport was opened the following morning. Flight Details - We take off from JFK at 6am for a 13 hour flight to Dubai. We land at Dubai at 3:20am (local time). Much of the entire flight 13 hour flight was in the dark! We were served a meal upon departure and the crew went by closing all the window shades. Most of the passengers slept the entire way or watched theit TVs, it was really quiet. Personally, I never really saw daylight! I did sleep for 5-6 hours in between and by the time I woke up, it was dark again. Anyways on this video here, you will see - - the boarding past the First Class section - all the pre flight amenities - a kickass take-off roll - the flatbed - some of the meals and snacks - the Airbus 380 Inflight Entertainment - the upperdeck lounge/bar - toilets with windows ...and you will be able to soak in the entire overnight flying experience. Jan 16th 2010) (HD) This is the second part of the experience on an Emirates Airbus 380-800. This is a flight from Dubai to JFK and the entire flight is during the day. This flight takes off around 8am from Dubai and reaches New York around 1pm. It's a 14:30 hour non-stop all daylight flight. Flight Details - We take off and are served breakfast. After that, typical on such ultra long distance flights, the crew goes around and pulling the shades. Inside the cabin its almost dark as night! The cool thing about flying Business Class on A380 is the upper deck is very quiet. Not only in terms of noise and vibration but because there are fewer passengers on top, you almost never see anyone (on Emirates at least). Its quite amazing to tell you the truth, the seats are designed in such a manner that you'll never see anyone besides the person directly next to you. Flying during the day gave me a chance to walk around the aircraft to do this video. I went down to the Economy class - and it was so different. Everyone was packed in like sardines (you'll see what I am referring to). If you are flying economy class in a A380 then you got to sit in front section (it so dam quiet there - no noise AT ALL).
