Lhasa de Sela Performs : "Who by Fire" (by Leonard Cohen)

Lhasa de Sela (lhasadesela.com Performs Leonard Cohen's "Who by Fire" at Le Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. From Wiki: ======== Lhasa was born in Big Indian, New York, of a Mexican father and an American mother. Her first decade was spent criss-crossing the United States and Mexico in a converted school bus with her parents and three sisters where they were home-schooled by her mother. She started singing in a Greek cafe in San Francisco when she was thirteen. At age nineteen she moved to Montreal in Canada, and sang for five years in bars, where she developed the material that eventually became her first album, La Llorona, released in 1997. La Llorona, which mixes traditional South American songs with original songs, was strongly influenced by Mexican music, but also Eastern European gypsy music and alternative rock. The album was released by the Montreal independent record label Audiogram and brought her much success, including the Quebec Félix Award for "Artiste québécois — musique du monde" in 1997 and a Canadian Juno Award for Best Global Artist, in 1998. Lhasa de Sela - J' arrive en ville

Lhasa de Sela (born 1972), also known as simply Lhasa, is a Mexican American singer and songwriter who was raised in Mexico and the United States and now she divides her time between Canada and France. Lhasa was born in Big Indian, New York, of a Mexican father and an American mother. After touring in Europe and North America for several years, Lhasa left her singing career in 1999 and moved to France to join her three sisters in a circus/theatre company named Pocheros. Lhasa de Sela - My name

Why don't you ask me How long I've been waiting Set down on the road With the gunshots exploding I'm waiting for you In the gloom and the blazing I'm waiting for you I sing like a slave I know I should know better I've learned all my lessons Right down to the letter And still I go on like this Year after year Waiting for miracles And shaking with fear Why don't you answer Why don't you come save me Show me how to use All these things That you gave me Turn me inside out So my bones can save me Turn me inside out You've come this close You can come even closer The gunshots get louder And the world spins faster And things just get further And further apart The head from the hands And the hands from the heart One thing that's true Is the way that I love him The earth down below And the sky up above him And still I go on like this Day after day Still I go on like this Now I've said this I already feel stronger I can't keep waiting for you Any longer I need you now Not someday When I'm ready Come down on the road Come down on the road My name, my nam Nothing is the same I won't go back The way I came
Lhasa De Sela - Where do you go

Album: Lhasa (2009) lhasadesela.com Where do you go When your tides get low In the summer dress Of your drunkenness I go far from here Where the silence sleeps In the very deeps Of the holy blue And I dream of you And I dream of you Dream of you Dream of you What do you say When the rotted day Is around your feet In the noisy street And your eyes fall rain From pain from pain I say never again Never again Never again Why do you wander So light though falling In the underwater calling I skate like a bird Drunk on a word Almost in love If I only knew But the best will drive Through me and you Me and you Me and you

Lhasa Con toda palabra

Check this out, she's got an amazing voice. Lhasa is a mexican/american/canadian singer and is one of my favorite artists. Her voice in this song is dark and moody, yet the lyrics are very sensual. Hope you all enjoy. RIP Lhasa We will always love you and remember you Here you are: Con Toda Palabra (With All Words) With all words With all smiles With all looks With all caresses I draw near the water Drinking your kiss The light of your face The light of your body To love you is a prayer The song of a mute The look of a blind It's a naked secret I entrust myself to your arms with fear and with calm A prayer in my mouth And a prayer in my soul With all words With all smiles With all looks With all caresses I draw near the fire That burns it all The light of your face The light of your body
Lhasa de Sela-I'm Going In

I do not own any of the Audio or Video content on this video and i give full credit to the author, writer, composer of this video Some of my favourite photos in the video can be found here: forgotten-photos.blogspot.com When my lifetime had just ended And my death had just begun I told you I'd never leave you But I knew this day would come Give me blood for my blood wedding I am ready to be born I feel new As if this body were the first I'd ever worn I need straw for the straw fire I need hard earth for the plow Don't ask me to reconsider I am ready to go now I'm going in I'm going in This is how it starts I can see in so far But afterwards we always forget Who we are I'm going in I'm going in I can stand the pain And the blinding heat 'Cause I won't remember you The next time we meet You'll be making the arrangements You'll be trying to set me free Not a moment for the meeting I'll be busy as a bee You'll be talking to me But I just won't understand I'll be falling by the wayside You'll be holding out your hand Don't you tempt me with perfection I have other things to do I didn't burrow this far in Just to come right back to you I'm going in I'm going in I have never been so ugly I have never been so slow These prison walls get closer now The further in I go I'm going in I'm going in I like to see you from a distance And just barely believe And think that Even lost and blind I still invented love I'm going in I'm going in I'm going in
