ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST - Ennio Morricone/Sergio Leone

Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), is a Euro/Spaghetti Western directed by Sergio Leone. The story focuses on brutish gunfighter Frank (Henry Fonda), who dreams of becoming a tycoon, but is still prepared to resort to trusted methods to drive widow Jill McBain (Claudia Cardinale) off the land coveted by a ruthless railroad company. However, Frank must also deal with a mysterious harmonica player (Charles Bronson), as well as sympathetic outlaw Cheyenne (Jason Robards), if he is to achieve his goal. Bernardo Bertolucci wrote a script for Leones magnificent attempt to make the definitive western (I had no lire and I thought Leone was brilliant and vulgar), borrowing from every western the future director knew. References include; High Noon, Johnny Guitar, Shane, The Searchers and The Iron Horse. The stereotypes include Henry Fonda cast radically against type as a blue-eyed sadistic killer, Charles Bronson as the avenger with no name who wears a musical instrumental around his neck, Jason Robards as a romantic bandit, and Claudia Cardinale as a dance-hall girl. The film features leitmotifs that relate to each of the main characters (each with their own unique theme music) as well as to the spirit of the American West. It was Leone's desire to have the music available and played during filming. Leone had Morricone compose the score before shooting started and would play the music in the background for the actors on set. No wonder many critics described the film as an ...

Why Sergio Leone was a great director. (Prison escape scene)

That accent you're hearing is Dutch. I compare two very, very similar western scenes about a prison escape. Note the similarities: It's night, the prisoner is asleep, escape by destroying the window, riding away in the dark and not a single word is spoken. The scenes even have almost exactly the same length. Still, Leone's scene is better, because of his use of the music of Ennio Morricone. Thus, it's only Leone's very own style that makes this scene so great, and it says a great deal about why he made great films. It's interesting that both directors, Sergio Leone and Giulio Petroni, used the same composer, had Lee Van Cleef in one of the leading roles and even shot the film in the exact same western-styled towns, built in Spain.

Once Upon A Time In The West Movie Trailer

In Sergio Leone's epic Western, shot partly in Monument Valley, a revenge story becomes an epic contemplation of the Western past. To get his hands on prime railroad land in Sweetwater, crippled railroad baron Morton (Gabriele Ferzetti) hires killers, led by blue-eyed sadist Frank (Henry Fonda), who wipe out property owner Brett McBain (Frank Wolff) and his family. McBain's newly arrived bride, Jill (Claudia Cardinale), however, inherits it instead. Both outlaw Cheyenne (Jason Robards) and lethally mysterious Harmonica (Charles Bronson) take it upon themselves to look after Jill and thwart Frank's plans to seize her land. As alliances and betrayals mutate, it soon becomes clear that Harmonica wants to get Frank for another reason -- it has "something to do with death." As in his "Dollars" trilogy, Leone transforms the standard Western plot through the visual impact of widescreen landscapes and the figures therein. At its full length, Once Upon a Time in the West is Leone's operatic masterwork, worthy of its legend-making title.

Once Upon a Time in America

In the tradition of "The Godfather" comes Sergio Leone's compelling dramatic epic chronicling the lives of two boyhood cohorts and their struggle to achieve power in the gangland heirarchy. Academy Award- winner Robert De Niro ("GoodFellas," "A Bronx Tale") stars in this powerful tale of raw, brutal emotion. Co-starring Academy Award-nominee and Emmy-winner James Woods ("Nixon," "Ghosts of Mississippi"), Elizabeth McGovern ("She's Having a Baby"), Treat Williams ("Prince of the City") and Academy Award-winner Joe Pesci ("GoodFellas," "Lethal Weapon 2 & 3") co-star. Receiving two Golden Globe nominations, USA Today calls this "a visually stunning film" and The New York Times says it's a monument of filmmakers." Included on the 1984 Ten Best lists of both The Hollywood Reporter and Siskel & Ebert's "At the Movies," and available in its epic, uncut longer version. MPAA Rating: R (c) 1983 The Ladd Company. The Good The Bad & The Ugly - American Trailer

The definitive "spaghetti western", a real classic masterpiece from il Maestro Sergio Leone. The American trailer is beautiful too, but is mistaken at one detail: "The Bad" isn't Eli Vallach of course but Lee van Cleef. This mistake is "thanks" to the original Italian title ("Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo") which is translated in the form of "The Good, The Ugly, The Bad". Quentin Tarantino's all time favorite film. Mine too (Among with "The Wild Bunch").
David Moufang - Sergio Leone's Wet Dream

There is an edited, shorter version of this already on youtube but I wanted to include the full track as featured on the 1994 album 'Solitaire' on Fax. www.discogs.com If talent converted into record sales, david moufang would be a very rich man. his records with partner jonas grossmann as deep space network and his own solo releases as move d are among the furthest outreaches of techno's push towards the stars. moufang grew up in heidelberg listening to his parents' collection of early pink floyd and kraftwerk records but the most overwhelming influence on his childhood was outer space, the result of a trip to the cinema with his father to see 2001: a space odyssey. "i was space crazy as a child," moufang told journalist tony marcus in 1995, "when the other kids were riding around in their little cars i'd be building my own spacecraft. i'd put in a small engine, put rubber on the wheels so it made some noise and stand there with a walkie-talkie and my headphones on. it was very techno..." moufang's grandmothers were both classical concert pianists. he can still remember favourite childhood moments, sitting under the piano as they played, surrounded and lost in sound. by the age of 12, he taken up drums (he eventually went on to study classical percussion) and took up the guitar a few years later, this time taking lessons from two separate jazz guitar teachers. he played guitar in a band called rivers & trains well into the '90s. occasionally he even plied his trade as a ...

Sergio Leone - Duck, You Sucker - The Bridge ( filming location video )

MY FACEBOOK PAGE www.facebook.com One of the best scenes in "Fistful Of Dynamite" (aka "Duck You Sucker, Giu' la testa), directed by the great Sergio Leone. Starring: James Cuburn & Rod Steiger. The bridge was located in Almeria, Spain Giù la Testa, roughly translated as Duck Your Head) also known as Duck, You Sucker! and Once Upon a Time... the Revolution is a 1971 Spaghetti western film directed by Sergio Leone. Leone was known to prefer the title Duck, You Sucker!, which he was convinced was a frequently used American phrase. Its plot is centered on two individuals, a poor Mexican bandit (played by Rod Steiger) and an ex-Irish Republican Army revolutionary (James Coburn), who meet during the turbulent Mexican Revolution Compared to Leone's previous films, the Clint Eastwood "man with no name" trilogy and Once Upon a Time in the West, his new work A Fistful of Dynamite gained lukewarm reviews and little notice. One reason could be Leone's insistence on using the Duck, You Sucker title, which gave potential movie-goers the mistaken impression that the film would be a comic western. (Duck, You Sucker is a fairly direct translation of the repeated phrase of the film, "Giù la Testa, coglione!" in the Italian version, where however the movie was titled just "Giù la Testa"). Leone was convinced the phrase "duck, you sucker" was a popular American expression, contrary to the advice of his American stars Rod Steiger and James Coburn that they had never heard of that phrase ...

Joe Kidd Movie Trailer

In John Sturges' Americanized version of Sergio Leone's Man-With-No-Name films, Clint Eastwood is Joe Kidd, a cryptic stranger who arrives in the New Mexican town of Sinola, where Mexican bandito/revolutionary Luis Chama (John Saxon) has organized a peasant revolt against the local landowners, who are throwing the poor off land that rightfully belongs to them. When a posse -- financed by wealthy landowner Frank Harlan (Robert Duvall) -- is formed to capture Luis, Kidd is invited to join but prefers to remain neutral. Harlan keeps badgering Kidd to join up, and Kidd finally relents when he finds that Luis's band has raided his own ranch and one of his ranch hands has been injured. The bloodthirsty posse rounds up five Mexicans hostages and threaten to kill them unless Luis surrenders to them. One of the hostages is the attractive Stella Garcia (Helen Sanchez), and Kidd falls in love with her. Harlan notices this and throws Kidd in jail to prevent him from helping Stella and the Mexicans. Kidd decides the position himself as the voice of reason in this nest of disorder. He escapes and saves the Mexican hostages, determined to capture Luis himself and see that he gets a fair trial. But when Kidd captures Luis and delivers him to Sheriff Mitchell (Gregory Walcott), Harlan is in town waiting for him.

My Name is Nobody (1973) Henry Fonda Western - Lonsome Gun full film

My Name is Nobody (Italian: Il mio nome è Nessuno, also known as Lonesome Gun) is a 1973 Spaghetti Western comedy film. The film was directed by Tonino Valerii and, in some scenes, by Sergio Leone.[1] It was written by Leone, Fulvio Morsella and Ernesto Gastaldi. Leone was also the uncredited executive producer. The cast includes Terence Hill, Henry Fonda, and Jean Martin. Jack Beauregard (Henry Fonda) is a tired, aging legendary gunslinger who just wants to retire in peace in Europe to get away from young gunmen constantly trying to test themselves against the master. The film opens with three rascals ambushing Beauregard in a barbershop. After Beauregard has dispatched them, the barber's son asks his father if there is anyone in the world faster than Beauregard, to which the barber replies "Faster than him? Nobody!" 'Nobody' (Terence Hill) idolizes Beauregard and wants to see him die in a blaze of glory going against the infamous Wild Bunch singlehanded. The Wild Bunch are a gang of bandits who launder their loot of stolen gold via a fake goldmine. The owner sends them after Beauregard because the latter's now-dead brother was in on the deal. Nobody dogs Beauregard through the west, encountering many who wish him dead, and pesters him to let him stage his grand finale. Eventually, the grand shoot-out does take place by a railway line. Nobody arranges for Beauregard to shoot at the Wild Bunch's mirrored-concho-decorated saddles which, he's discovered, contain sticks of ...
