Join Ricochet on Facebook! www.facebook.com - Kleenex alert! Each person who watches this inspirational video finds an individual message that touches them on many levels, & brings them to tears. It's about acceptance, adjusting expectations, & focusing on the "can do's" in life which allows for a celebration of amazing outcomes. Ricochet is an internationally renowned champion surf dog at the center of media attention, who has become an inspirational phenomenon, motivational role model, internet sensation, fundraising marvel, goodwill ambassador, and muse to millions! This video depicts her journey from birth to 15 months of age, as she goes through her service dog training, which is cut short due to her propensity to chase birds. Her role changed to SURFice dog & she started to fundraise for quadriplegic surfer, Patrick Ivison, who she met the night before this video was filmed. The intention was for the two of them to surf a wave together on their own surfboards. At one point, when they surfed into shore, Ricochet jumped off her board, and onto Patrick's. It was her decision to surf tandem with him! Once the video went viral, she turned it into a platform to help more people/animals & she's raised over $53000 in the last year. She promotes kindness, charity, philanthropy, and social responsibility, such as her video about anti-bullying "You're amazing just the way you are!" CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Don Julio's the Cascade Township restaurant that ordered a man to leave his service dog in the lobby in defiance of state law, is closed and the phone number disconnected. It is unclear at this writing if the closure is permanent or temporary. As Target 8 reported on November 7, Frank Eckl and his family -- including his service dog, Spruce -- went to dinner at Don Julio's. But the manager said the dog had to stay in the lobby. "She [the manager] said we were more than welcome to stay, but patrons in the restaurant and the manager didn't want dog hair in the restaurant," Eckl told Target 8 at that time. "I was shocked that we were asked to have the dog leave and we could stay."

I had a brain injury setback a few months ago and am working to progress with walking with the help of my service dog, Windsor. Windsor is a mobility and medical alert dog who wears his vest today and helps me with balance, walking safely, crossing the street, and performs a medical alert. My talking is limited with my brain injury and it takes great concentration to focus on my steps. Windsor also wears a mobility harness at other times to help me balance and walk. Windsor is not distracted before he takes me across the street. The camera could not show that he's watching the bike approach and pass us. Then you see how he moves into place to prepare and cross the street.

Gage, a male Doberman Pinscher from Locust Grove, Virginia, shows off his new skills as an SDAP Balance Dog. Gage will also recall to the side of his fallen owner and then assist in recovery from a fall. Gage was trained at Aberdeen Acres Pet Care Center in Winchester, Virginia and meets all the federal and legislative requirements of the ADA and 28 CFR, Subpart A § 35.104. Patrick Ivison, an adaptive surfer, and surf dog Ricochet got together to tandem surf at Del Mar beach on Aug 20, 2009 for the first time. Patrick was run over by a car when he was a child, and suffered a spinal cord injury. He has used a wheelchair ever since. Ricochet fundraised to help offset costs of Patrick's physical therapy, and new service dog, and raised more than $10000 for him! And, one of her sponsors, the Rose Foundation awarded a grant that will pay for an additional three years of his therapy! For more info/pictures or to make a tax deductible donation to one of Ricochet's causes go to www.SurfDogRicochet.com.
