The Shlichut (Emissaries) Need You
Rebbe Schneerson speaks about the relationship between the Shliach (Emissary - Sent One) and the Principal, who sends him forth: "The legal mechansim of a 'Shliach - an emissary' is defined in Torah law in three possible ways: 1. Only the emissary's final achievement is attributed to the Principal (ie, the one who sent the Shliach forth). 2. The emissary's every action is attributed to the Principal. 3. The emissary completely EMBODIES the Principal. And Chassidic teaching introduces a fourth level: 4. In addition to the emissary's sole focus on representing the Principal, he brings his 'own self' to the mission. This in no way minimizes the importance of the Principal. G_d Himself declares: 'It gives Me pleasure that I have spoken, and My Will has been carried out - G_d wishes for His mission to be 'carried out,' so there must be an entity to actually fulfill it. Similarly, the Principal doesn't keep his wishes to himself; he wants his expressed mission to be carried out by another - the emissary. But the emissary himself, Chassidic teaching reveals, is not a 'second person' but rather a 'second half'; Principal and emissary are two sides of one person - they become 'one flesh.' This applies also to every single Shliach...."
