- The Envision - Today, on Christmas, I present you all with my second portable gamecube as a tribute to the best gaming console ever. The Gamecube Envision is the successor to the Ccube. It took roughly 7 months to make and was inspired by Sifuf's Sixty Free Lite-R. Unlike the Ccube, this portable gamecube runs ENTIRELY off of batteries (wall power is an option though) and has NO disc drive. Instead it features the Wiikey Fusion which runs gamecube games off of an SD card. It can play ALL gamecube games perfectly except for Luigi's Mansion (the modding scene is working on this). This portable can also play SOME N64 games, the whole SNES and NES library, and probably some other older consoles. The N64 games are ISO files on my SD card that use the emulator from Zelda: Collectors edition, which ran two N64 zelda games on the gamecube. Thus they are full speed. This portable also uses Progressive Scan via the official Component Cable for the Gamecube. And it looks beautiful. Systema Solar is a musical-visual collective from the Caribbean coast of Colombia. It 's members, originating from a diversity of territorial and sonorous latitudes have found in the afro Caribbean vibrations a sea of possibilities to renovate the strength and spirit of Colombian music. The objective of the collective is to create audio-visual performances with their own style which they denominate the berbenautika. Influenced by the spirit of the Colombian piko culture (sound systems style performances), the members of the group come together to create, adapt and reinvent different music through improvisation, emphasizing the cult of joy and dance. Since releasing their second EP, She's So Hard, in November 2009, the four-piece have toured the country supporting Tegan & Sara, Katie Noonan and Josh Pyke, and as headliners in their own right (selling out shows nationally in the process). They've watched Hurt Me, the lead single from She's So Hard, receive heavy rotation on radio in Australia and abroad, a feat also achieved by its follow-up, Easy To Love. Fittingly, The Jezabels have seen their fanbase grow every step of the way -- sometimes in the most unexpected places. "I think the biggest spin-out was when someone from Germany sent us a YouTube clip of them dancing to one of our songs," grins 23-year-old vocalist Hayley Mary. Some rock bands fret too much about the successful fusion of commerce and creativity. Some rock bands think they can second-guess the music fan by blending strategies for world domination with mix-and-match, catch-all music. Ham Sandwich, however, instinctively react to rock music more than spending too much time thinking about it -- which is nowhere near as bad as it might sound -- and it is this that marks them out as one of the best Irish rock acts of recent years. Ham Sandwich have been around and about in one very interesting shape or another since 2003, but it wasn't until the autumn of 2005 -- with the release of their debut single, 'Sad Songs' -- that they began to be known outside their home county of Meath. The band formed, says singer/guitarist Podge McNamee, due to founding member/bass player Johnny Moore's creative urge to be always one step ahead of the posse. Balancing ambition and risk is a tricky thing to get right, but with Moore's astute knack for understated, engaging craft and McNamee's liking for juggling quirk, strangeness and charm, stability reigned supreme. The archaic sound of instruments may remind us of the rebellious groups of the 60's and 70's, but the compositions and arrangements sound quite modern. The four released albums gave them quite a huge following among fans in Poland. Another face of the band are soundtracks and music composed for theatre plays. The band described its work in an artistic manifesto as MUSIC OF EASTERN EUROPE. First album of the band, entitled "Studio Pustki", was released in 2001 by an independent punk label Antena Krzyku and was distributed also in USA and Czech Republic by Tamizdat. The CD got very good reviews and the group was labeled as one of the most promising new bands on the Polish indie scene. In June 2004, after releasing next album, entitled "8 ohm", the group toured with No Means No as a special guest of the legendary band (the Canadians bought "Studio Pustki" during their previous visit to Poland). The Kills are an alternative rock duo formed by American vocalist Alison "VV" Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie "Hotel" Hince that rose to public recognition at the dawn of the hype surrounding the genre explosion of the early 2000s. Mosshart had been in the Florida punk band Discount and Hince in British rock band Scarfo. When these groups disbanded, the duo, who first met when Mosshart heard Hince practicing in the hotel room above hers, struck up a songwriting partnership. For months, the pair air mailed work tapes across the Atlantic; after this proved to test the patience of both artists, as it took days or weeks to get each others tapes, Mosshart upped sticks from her Florida home to fly to London. Wanting to cut themselves off from their pasts, Mosshart and Hince considered their new project to be Year Zero in their careers, so they renamed themselves "VV" and "Hotel" respectively and began writing sparse, minimalist songs together with the aid of a drum machine. In 2001 they showcased their new songs on a well received demo tape. In true punk rock fashion, however, the pair shunned approaches from major record labels.
