Sister Hazel - The saddest song

Sister Hazel are an alternative rock band from Gainesville, Florida, whose style also blends elements of folk rock, pop, classic rock 'n' roll and southern rock. Their music is characterized by highly melodic tunes and generally optimistic lyrics. The band's instrumentation often features abrupt shifts among electric, acoustic and a cappella, with striking use of tacets. Though often described as alternative, Sister Hazel leans toward an upbeat sound and away from the dark emotions and clashing punk discordance often association with the alternative rock genre. Newell played on the album before officially joining the group. The band's second album, ...Somewhere More Familiar was released in 1997 and sold approximately 30000 copies through its initial pressing, prompting Universal Records to sign the band. Sister Hazel - Starfish (Acoustic with lyrics)

Sister Hazel's Starfish from the album Before the Amplifiers (Live & Acoustic). Lyrics: I saw a starfish on the ground He was half buried in the sand Just so out of place and ahh He was a long, long way from home I was a long, long way from home And so we talked a little while Then I shook his hands, and I I was a long, long way from home And everything is wonderful When everything's alright, so alright There we were One less star tonight Might be the top of purple mountains So close to outer space and ahh We were a long, long way from home We'd bring some records and a game Might take a walk or read a book Oh, but it's not the same, no ahh We're still a long long way from home And everything is wonderful When everything's alright, so alright There we were One less star tonight I saw a starfish on the ground He was half buried in the sand Now he's not so all alone And he's finally going home So I smiled and I shook his hands [here we go guys] we were singin' Na na na na na na na Na na na na na na (Repeat x4) There we were one less star tonight There we were one less star tonight

Sister Hazel 1

We were thrilled to welcome Sister Hazel into the studio this morning! Loved talking with lead vocalist and guitarist Ken Block, guitarist/vocalist Drew Copeland, and lead guitarist Ryan Newell...Be sure to check them out at a venue near you! Gainesville, FL's Sister Hazel (vocalist Ken Block, guitarist/vocalist Drew Copeland, lead guitarist Ryan Newell, drummer Mark Trojanowski and bassist Jett Beres) is planning to release their 8th studio album, "Heartland Highway," on October 12, 2010, via Rock Ridge Music. "Heartland Highway" follows closely on the heels of their last album, "Release," which reached the band's highest ever spot (#37) on the Billboard Album Charts, topping even their platinum disc "Somewhere More Familiar." "Heartland Highway" reflects a rootsy journey for both the band and the listeners and has 12 tracks. The first single, "Stay Awhile," will go to Hot A/C and Triple A radio in mid-September. Beres describes the album as "American road trip music" ("listening to it is what it feels like to be on a road trip across America") while Copeland suggests, "It's one of those discs you can put on and listen to front to back." Concurs Block: "We spend a lot of time on journeys as a band -- literally and figuratively. We spend a lot of time out on the highway together. We have a ton of stuff behind us with a really rich history, and we have been through an awful lot of things together. Yet we keep looking ahead, down the road, to what's next." Sword and Shield by Sister Hazel

Environmental version of Sword and Shield by Sister Hazel. It was made for my Media Study class. I chose this song specifically, because I think it really applied well to the message I was trying to get out. Also I noticed there weren't any great videos of this song! I hope you enjoy it! NOTE: I do not claim ownership for about half of these pictures, which I had to get off the internet. I did, however, take around half.
