As you all know by now, update 1.7 brought with it sticky pistons which, in my mind, will be one of the most useful items in the game. However, a lot of people are quite annoyed about the fact that the crafting recipe requires slime balls to make the pistons "sticky" as many have not ever even seen a slime. With this in mind I thought I'd do a "quick" tutorial on how to make a slime farm so that obtaining slime balls will be much easier. Much of the research was already done by Roboticaust and so most of the credit must go to him. You can check out his channel at: www.youtube.com This video is divided up into several smaller parts to make the tutorial more accessible and easy to digest. In this video, I explain how to create a high efficieny slime trap. After some more research and testing, I came up with this final setup. 9 chunks are covered by the setup. 4 of them are Slime spawn friendly. To make the setup more easy to build, it´sa square shape with a main spawning pad of 48 x 48 blocks. I mixed up numbers in the video WRONGLY stating 8 or 6 chunks are covered! It is 9! 9 nothing but 9! I was having some major issues with the EXP farm killing system, so please feel free to leave any comments on how I could improve. It looks like I will be expanding the base for next time so we can install a mob crusher. Also, In the future, we will improve our current slime farm so that it is both safer to harvest and also much faster. If Possible, I may attempt to build a water tunnel system where we can funnel the slimes up to our base for easy killing (similar to our hostile mob system). Slimes are a bit different than other mobs and will not swim up water streams, so we will have to design a new method of transportation. Expect this for a future episode. Webapp - mcslimes.appspot.com To find your level.dat file - type into your pc search bar at the start menu " %appdata", this should bring up your roaming folder. Open that and then open .minecraft, then saves, and then your world save and the level.dat file will be there :) Or you can just use your seed which you can find out by hitting F3 while in game. I think even when you have a seed that is a word it is converted into number form (not sure how though, I assume some sort of algorithm or function, too complicated for a non computer genius like me). Slime balls really can be hard to come across unless you build a trap like this. I hope you can understand this tutorial. This tutorial shows you some basic as well as advanced concepts for building a slime farm. With some planning, you should be able to build a farm of any size using the stuff shown here. UPDATE NOTES ---------------------- - looks like they fixed the suffocating technique I showed at around 5:30. While it's still possibly to make the farm two high (and the streams two wide etc.) the efficiency should be less than half of what it used to be, because big slimes won't spawn at all anymore on two high floors. So I suggest building the three high variant, which I introduce at 6:30 in the video. - height limit for slime spawning was raised to 40 (from 16), allowing you to build much more floors than before in one chunk. Makes it easier to avoid bedrock, too. - Mobs don't spawn on Bedrock anymore. So start higher. Spawning ---------------------- Keep in mind that legit spawning is very rare, so you don't need to overcomplicate it, unless you lit the area around you to provent other hostiles from spawning. DESCRIPTION This is an overview of the Dark Gel item and Ultra Slime boss found in the Obsidian Mod on Terraria. To create the Dark Gel, you must combine 99 Gel which are dropped from Slimes, 30 Rotten Chunks which are dropped from the Eaters within the Corrpution biome and 15 Demonite Ore, which is found scattered around the world, as well as being dropped from the Eye Of Cthulu and Eater Of Worlds bosses. This item is consumed on use and summons the Ultra Slime boss. This boss has two main phases, the first ends once the boss hits 1000 HP. On the second phase, it increases its max HP to 7000 and regenerates all of its HP. All of the boss' abilities are identical in both phases. it's an easy boss, but doesn't drop anything of real value.
