Actually the order was SOBA. But it's was not good enough to make video so I added tempura and mentsuyu recipe. Mentsuyu is very useful ingredients for Japanese food recipe. This small castle city is a popular tourist spot amongst Japanese who travel there to eat soba noodles. This is apparently the "birth place" of soba. This wonderful soba noodle restaurant is located in a very old farmhouse high in the mountains surrounding the Japan Southern Alps. Our family fled to the mountains on a hot and humid day in summer and enjoyed several hours dining and relaxing in this lovely old building. The family who own the restaurant make their own noodles fresh daily and grow their own wasabi root which customers prepare at the table (so good!). One of the things I love about old Japanese homes is the way that they can be opened in the warm months to allow fresh air to flow through the house. The wide roof eaves protect the inside from getting wet during heavy summer showers allowing occupants to rest (or even nap as in the case of one couple) while listening to the sound of the rain close at hand. The house was filled with charming artifacts from its previous life as a family home, including a splendid built-in butsudan Buddhist altar and large and well cared-for kamidana god shelf. The excitement near the end of the video is due to the rare sight (difficult to see through the rain and clouds) of a mountain waterfall which only appears during heavy rain.

In this video we go to Yabu Japanese Restaurant on La Cienega Blvd. This shop is famous for its hand pulled buckwheat soba noodles. It's the only Japanese restaurant in Los Angeles where they make the Soba from scratch. In nearby Torrance there are a few other places though. We had a very Minxy time full of deliciousness. We ordered Tenzaru. which is Tenpura along with cold soba (called Zaru Soba in Japanese). When you order your food, don't confuse Tenzaru with Nihonzaru which means Japanese monkey, or you could end up with a very different kind of dish. We also visited the Hollywood walk of fame to see the stars of celebrities on the side walk. We didn't see any real movie stars, just there names written on the sidewalk. If you are interested in the Walk of Fame but can't travel to Los Angeles, you can make your own walk of fame at home. Just by some colorful chalk, draw some stars on the sidewalk, and write in the names of your favorite actors and musicians, and pets too. After the walk of fame, we went to Yougurt Land, which is a popular Korean style frozen yogurt place where you buy the yogurt by the ounce, or pound. Hannah had purple Taro potato flavor. I had plain with berries. Hannah is teaching me all about "Minxy" , you can watch some of her videos to learn what Minxy means. I'm trying <b>...</b>
