Special Forces: MIKE Force - Part 1

Part 1 of 5 The Mobile Strike Force Command, or MIKE Force, was a key component of United States Army Special Forces in the Vietnam War. They served with indigenous soldiers selected and trained through the Civilian Irregular Defense Group (CIDG) and were led by American SF and Australian SAS. MIKE Force was a force multiplier, operating what is today called a Foreign Internal Defense mission. MIKE Force was composed of the persecuted Degar, Bahnar, Hmong, Nung, Jarai, Khmer Krom, and Montagnards. MIKE Force was active under MACV, Army Special Forces, from 1964 to 1970 and under ARVN until 1974. MIKE Force waged special warfare against the Viet Minh, NLF (Viet Cong), and PLAVN (North Vietnamese Army) oppressors in various detachments, volunteering in support of MIKE Force missions. MIKE Force's mission was to act as a country-wide quick reaction force for securing, reinforcing, and recapturing CIDG A Camps, as well as to conduct special reconnaissance patrols. Search and rescue and search and destroy missions were also assigned. The conventional unit alternative to Special Forces detachments like MIKE was Tiger Force, which was primarily tasked with counter-guerrilla warfare against enemies from behind their lines that emphasized body-count rather than force multiplication. MIKE Force had a critical role in the search and rescue of downed American pilots because they were mobile and often in close proximity to the DMZ. MIKE Force also designated drop zones, landing zones ...

Special Forces: Recondo School - Part 1

Part 1 of 5 In 1958 the Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division Major General William Westmoreland noticed a failing of proficiency and initiative in squad, fireteam and patrol leaders during an exercise code named WHITE CLOUD. General Westmoreland was a veteran of the Normandy invasion and realised the importance of small unit leaders and individuals who had been separated from their parent units to take action against superior enemy forces. The General decided that his Division needed relevant training to rectify their deficiencies before their deployment. The United States Army sent many of their officers and senior non-commissioned officers to the eight week Ranger School. However not every unit leader could be sent to the course. One of the missions of a graduate of the Ranger School was to train his platoon or squad members in Ranger tactics. A 2nd Lieutenant Donald Bernstein suggested that some of the 101st Airborne's Ranger trained personnel start a school for the entire division in Ranger tactics. When the idea was brought to General Westmoreland he recommended that Major Lewis L. Millett command the two-week school. To emphasise reconnaissance and doughboy (standard infantry) skills, the school was called "Recondo". The Recondo insignia of the graduates of the school would be an Indian arrowhead pointing downwards to symbolise assault from the sky to the ground in the colours of black and white for operation by day and night. GSG9 German Special Forces

Germany's legendary Grenzschutzgruppe 9 or GSG 9 is a pioneer of modern CounterTerrorism. It is considered to be one of finest CounterTerrorist units in existence and is the role model of numerous units around the globe. Created in 1973, Grenzschutzgruppe 9 (which translates to "Border Control Group 9") is a special unit of the Bundesgrenzschutz ("Federal Border Police") or BGS. It is administered by Bundesgrenschutz West and is currently based in Hangelar, near Bonn. GSG 9 may be tasked by the BGS command to assist its own regular units as well as federal agencies such as the BKA (Bundeskriminalamt, or "Federal Criminal Agency") and the Bundeszollverwaltung (Federal Customs Administration) and local agencies by request. GSG 9 will also provide support and consultation to the different states of the Federation (Bundeslander) and the Foreign Office. GSG 9's primary task is hostage rescue. It is also tasked with handling extremely violent crimes such as terrorism, kidnapping and extortion as well as developing, testing and evaluating tactics and techniques for this purpose. Being a police force gives GSG 9 operators national authority and powers of arrest. It also allows them to conduct long term infiltration of terrorist groups. This facilitates the execution of preemptive CounterTerrorist operations in addition to their "regular" tasks such as hostage rescue and criminal apprehension. Structure GSG 9 numbers around 200 to 250 operators and is divided into the following ...

Media Openly Admits Foreign Special Forces Behind Overthrow of Qaddafi - Alex Jones Tv

Kurt Nimmo www.infowars.com August 24, 2011 Now that NATO is within reach of overthrowing Gaddafi, the corporate media is rife with reports that al-Qaeda, tribal warlords, and disenfranchised former Gaddafi bureaucrats had plenty of help from the US, Britain, and NATO in the "Arab Spring" operation to install a government amenable to the globalists. "Special forces troops from Britain, France, Jordan and Qatar on the ground in Libya have stepped up operations in Tripoli and other cities in recent days to help rebel forces as they conducted their final advance on the Gaddafi regime," a NATO official told CNN today. British forces, in particular, have assisted rebel units by "helping them get better organized to conduct operations," the official said. Some of these forces from all the countries have traveled with rebel units from towns across Libya as they advanced on Tripoli. The official declined to be identified due to the sensitive nature of the intelligence information. Overall, the special forces have helped rebels "improve their tactics," the official said. The forces have also provided targeting information to warplanes conducting airstrikes and conducting reconnaissance missions in Tripoli, he said. This has been especially critical in recent days in the capital, as fighters from both sides have mixed together in close range. The forces have also assisted rebels in communications as they conducted the assault on the capital. Qatari and French forces also have ...

Daniel Lewin (Levin) Former israeli special forces officer - 9/11 hero of Flight 11

Daniel Lewin, a 31 year old Israeli-American, was murdered aboard American Airlines Flight 11 on the morning of September 11th, 2001, while attempting to subdue the hijackers. Lewin was a former Captain in the Israeli army's elite commando unit, Sayeret Mat'kal, a top-secret reconnaissance unit that specializes in counter-terrorism missions. He was also the co-founder and the chief technology officer (CTO) of Akamai Technologies Inc. Daniel was a strong, thick-boned and muscular man who could bench-press more than 300lbs. and squat close to 500lbs. He stood 5'11" tall and weighed in at 200+ lbs. Because of his advanced military and counter-terrorism training, Lewin knew how to kill - quickly and efficiently - with whatever was available - a pen, a set of keys, a credit card, or even his bare hands. He would have had to been caught off-guard, or completely taken by surprise during a struggle, for the terrorists - or anyone else - to sucessfully succeed in murdering this elite soldier. Daniel Lewin is said to have been "The Best Of The Best." Excerpt from "Year to the Twin Towers Disaster" Yediot Ahronot, Seven Days Magazine Section 6 September 2002. Translation by IMRA: "Danny Lewin was the first victim of the biggest attack in history that morning, in which almost 3000 people died." Unconventional Warfare: Special Operations Forces (SOF) - PSYOPS (1984)

thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Special forces, or Special Operations forces are terms used to describe elite military tactical teams trained to perform high-risk dangerous missions that conventional units cannot perform. Special Forces soldiers need to be physically and mentally robust and have the confidence, courage and skill to operate individually or in small teams, often in isolation and in a hostile environment. They are high value assets, commanded at the strategic level that deliver effects disproportionately to their size. Special forces have played an important role throughout the history of warfare whenever the aim has been to achieve disruption by "hit and run" and sabotage, rather than more traditional conventional army combat using large formations of troops and motorized armor groups. Other significant roles lay in reconnaissance, providing essential intelligence from close to or among the enemy, and increasingly in combating terrorists, their infrastructure and activities. In antiquity, Hamilcar Barca in Sicily had specialized troops trained to launch several offensives per day. Later, during the Crusade wars, small, highly trained units of Knights Templar attacked individual Muslim units attempting to forage or seize booty. Muslim armies had several naval special operations units, including one which used camouflaged ships to gather intelligence and launch raids, and another which consisted of soldiers who could pass for Crusaders who would use ruses to ...

Special Forces: Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol - Part 1

Part 1 of 5 Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols, or LRRPs (pronounced "lurp"), were special small four to six-man teams in the Vietnam War on highly dangerous special reconnaissance missions deep into enemy territory. The first US Army Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol units were in the 11th Airborne Division in Augsburg Germany in 1956. Their training was very similar to later LRRP and LRP units. The 11th had a cadre of trained LRRPs spread out throughout the division and formed LRRP patrols on an as needed basis. The LRRP concept was well known throughout the Army though it seemed to be concentrated in 7th Army in Germany. After the 11th Airborne returned to the US, the 504th and 505th parchute infantry units in Mainz each had standing LRRP platoons. Provisional LRRP Companies made up of both trained LRRPs and regular soldiers were put together for a series of exercises called Wintershield and proved themselves in the field. This led to the 1961 formation of two Department of the Army authorized LRRP Companies in Wildflecken and Nellingen Barracks (near Stuttgart). The US Army LRRP Companies (Abn) were numbered 3779 and 3780, and were assigned to V Corps and VII Corps respectively. V Corps LRRP transferred to Frankfurt near Corps HQ in 1963. The two companies developed the first LRRP Table of Organization and Equipment which was approved in 1965 increasing their strength to 208 men, increasing patrol size from 4 to 5 men, and adding an organic transport component. pecial Forces Command also known as the Maroon Berets because of their distinctive service headgear, are a special operations force of the Turkish Armed Forces. Currently, the force is under the command of the Special Forces flank (old Special Warfare Unit). They also work along with Attack Search & Rescue Teams (SAT) and Underwater Attack Teams (SAS) (Marine Search Teams). UN and NATO Exercises every April: The Maroon Berets are the special forces organization of the Turkish Army. The unit was created to counter any interior or foreign attacks on the Turkish Republic. Australian Special Forces the SASR

The Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) is a Special Forces regiment modelled on the original British SAS and also drawing on the traditions of the Australian World War II 'Z' Special Force commando unit, as well as the Independent Companies which were active in the South Pacific during the same period. It is based at Campbell Barracks, Swanbourne, Perth, Western Australia and is a unit of the Royal Australian Corps of Infantry, part of the Australian Defence Force. They have been widely regarded as the best or one of the best special forces in the world. The uniform of the regiment is Australian issue camouflage and a sand-coloured beret with metal gold and silver flaming Excalibur badge (often wrongly described as a winged dagger) on a black shield. This differs from the British 22 SAS, who have a woven cap badge of the same design. SAS 'Ibis' style parachute wings (rounded at the bottom and straight on top) are worn on the right shoulder only on formal ceremonial dress. On operations, dress can be a mixture of the Australian green or desert camouflage pattern depending on the environment. Rank, qualification and name badges are not worn. Operators may also wear assorted coalition military dress. Around barracks, SASR soldiers conform to normal Australian army dress standards, although some latitude is given in the wide array of boots that are issued to the unit. When attending courses run by the general army, operators from SASR are careful to dress appropriately and ...

Special Operations Elite and The Osama Death Op - Alex Jones Tv 1/2

Kurt Nimmo www.infowars.com May 11, 2011 Obama's raid inside Pakistan that reportedly killed Osama bin Laden and members of his family was conducted by the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) who dispatched special operations elite hunter-killer commandos. It was likely run out of a new JSOC fusion center staffed by elite military and selected members of the government. On Monday, the Air Force Times wrote the following about the raid: "The moment a Navy SEAL forced his way into Osama bin Laden's bedroom and put two bullets into the al-Qaida leader was not only the culmination of a manhunt that stretched back to the 1990s, but also Joint Special Operations Command's finest hour." NPR described JSOC as the command responsible for conducting US counter-terrorism operations. "JSOC is reported to command the US military's Special Missions Units," writes Beth Ford Roth for KPBS in San Diego. "These SMUs are tasked with conducting CT operations, strike operations, reconnaissance in denied areas, and special intelligence missions. Much of the hunting for senior Taliban and al Qaeda members in Afghanistan is being conducted by a unit called Task Force 11, composed mostly of Delta Force soldiers and SEALs." The secretive counter-terrorism Delta Force created Task Force 11 on September 11, 2001. It was designed primarily as a hunter-killer group roaming the globe in search of terrorists. "Phantom Fighters" - United States Army Tenth Special Forces Group

Documentary about the Army's Tenth Special Forces Group in Europe. The story setting is in the vicinity of Bad Tolz which lies in an alpine valley near the German Swiss border. Resourcefully put together from film made in Germany by the Army Signal Corps, "Phantom Fighters" is a movingly meaningful television documentary about American soldiers trained to organize guerrilla resistance in enemy occupied territories. In a field training exercise, the many and varied skills of the Tenth are put to the test. They include a parachute jump, a mountain climb on skis, destruction of a bridge on the River Ammer, and a race to outdistance the enemy. It's a rugged, exciting life as evidenced on film and no soldier with Tenth Special Forces would have it any other way. Every man is a volunteer qualified to carry out hazardous and adventurous assignments. In no other branch of the United States military services is the standard of physical fitness higher than in Special Forces. Among the groups at Bad Tolz, a man's hand is as deadly a weapon as a rifle or hand grenade. Credit goes to the Tenth Special Forces for having accomplished the difficult task of staging a part of their mission before the motion picture cameras.
