On 19 August 2009, Radical Sportscars from Peterborough, England, successfully smashed the Nürburgring Nordschleife Production Car Lap Record by eight seconds, with racing driver and 'Ring expert Michael Vergers at the wheel. The new SR8 LM's time of 6m48s beat a record that has stood since 2005, also set by Radical in a previous-generation SR8. The record attempt was witnessed and confirmed by both the UK's evo and Germany's Sport Auto motoring magazines. To confirm the car's road-legal, production car status, the car was driven from the UK to Germany for the attempt, using the same road-legal Dunlop Direzza tyres for both the journey and the record. In December, 2010, McLaren confirmed its plans to bring back the McLaren name to GT sports cars racing. From 2012, McLaren and CRS Racing, an experienced UK-based racing team, will supply and support a limited number of GT3 racing cars based on the McLaren MP4-12C high-performance sports car for European-based privateers. With the 12C's lightweight one-piece moulded carbon chassis (the 'MonoCell'), its levels of downforce and aerodynamic performance, the 12C should prove to be a great platform to develop a racing car, as well as visually setting pulses racing at European race tracks. More details about the McLaren 12C GT3 racing car program will be announced in 2011.

Dave MacDonald and Dick Thompson were hand picked by legendary "Father of the Corvette" Zora Arkus Duntov to test drive the new 1963 Z06 Corvette Stingray. This historic event occured August 21, 1962 at the GM Proving Grounds in Michigan and was chronicled in a GM promotional video titled Biography of a Sports Car. The video was distributed around the globe as part of GM's '63 sales campaign. Great footage of the racers powering the Stingrays through the course. One month later Zora flew Dave MacDonald, Bob Bondurant & Jerry Grant out to the GM plant in St. Louis and presented them with the first three Z06's ever produced. GM brass decided to give Z06 #1 to MacDonald. They drove them back to the west coast and race prepped them for their debut race at Riverside International Raceway on Oct 13, 1962.
