Stonewall Uprising - Theatrical Trailer

For theatrical playdates dates go here: firstrunfeatures.com "It was the Rosa Parks moment," says one man. June 28, 1969: NYC police raid a Greenwich Village Mafia-run gay bar, The Stonewall Inn. For the first time, patrons refuse to be led into paddy wagons, setting off a 3-day riot that launches the Gay Rights Movement. Told by Stonewall patrons, Village Voice reporters and the cop who led the raid, Stonewall Uprising compellingly recalls the bad old days when psychoanalysts equated homosexuality with mental illness and advised aversion therapy, and even lobotomies; public service announcements warned youngsters against predatory homosexuals; and police entrapment was rampant. A treasure-trove of archival footage gives life to this all-too-recent reality, a time when Mike Wallace announced on a 1966 CBS Reports: "The average homosexual, if there be such, is promiscuous. He is not interested in, nor capable of, a lasting relationship like that of a heterosexual marriage." At the height of this oppression, the cops raid Stonewall, triggering nights of pandemonium with tear gas, billy clubs and a small army of tactical police. The rest is history. - Courtesy of Film Forum

www.antinbath.com A companion video to my How to create a Japanese garden in under 3 minutes www.youtube.com In this short video I'll show you how I laid out and built a rustic pumice stone wall. This wall was used to create a small garden of Dwarf Snake's Beard plants around a satellite dish on my porch roof. The pumice stones are usually used in chimenae, a clay oven. If you live in a volcanic area you can find pumice washed up on the beach as it floats on water. I used pumice because it's lightweight, perfect to put on a roof.

Annihilator - Stonewall

Canadian thrashers Annihilator are the lifework of guitarist Jeff Waters, who founded the band in his native Vancouver in 1984 -- just as the speed metal revolution was getting underway further to the south in the San Francisco Bay Area. Due in large part to this geographical isolation, Annihilator as a band phased in and out of existence over the next few years, with only Waters as a constant factor, but when the driven guitarist's homemade demos finally made it into the hands of Roadrunner Records, the band's career was ready to begin. Released to positively wild public and critical acclaim at the height of the thrash metal boom, Annihilator's 1989 debut, Alice in Hell, was an unqualified triumph and epitomized the state of the art in terms of thinking man's thrash metal, but it was hardly a band effort. Indeed, though they are pictured on the sleeve alongside Waters (who wrote, produced, and played guitar and bass on the entire album), vocalist Randy Rampage (formerly bassist with legendary Vancouver hardcore band DOA), drummer Ray Hartmann, bassist Wayne Darley, and second guitarist Anthony Greenham were little more than hired guns. Not surprisingly, both Rampage and Greenham were gone by the release of the following year's Never, Neverland (replaced by the equally improbably named Coburn Pharr and Dave Scott Davis, respectively), the beginning of a revolving door policy that would elevate Annihilator's musician turnover to Spinal Tap heights ...

Leona - Stonewall Jackson

Stonewall Jackson was one of the most popular country stars of the early '60s, scoring a string of Top Ten country hits and becoming a fixture at the Grand Ole Opry with a pleading voice that seemed to reflect his hard, often abusive upbringing on a south Georgia dirt farm. He was named after the Confederate general Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, to whom he was related according to family legend. When he was ten he traded his bike for a guitar and began making up songs. Some of his later hits, such as "Don't Be Angry," were written very early in his creative life. Jackson began singing professionally in the mid-'50s, moving to Nashville in 1956. Within a few days of his arrival he delivered an unsolicited demonstration recording to the offices of the Acuff-Rose publishing house, and executive Wesley Rose heard his recorded singing and set up an audition for Jackson at the Grand Ole Opry. He became the first entertainer to join the Opry without a recording contract, performing first on the Opry's Friday Night Frolics before his official debut. Backed by Ernest Tubb's Texas Troubadours, he proved so popular that the audience demanded four encores. Eventually Jackson hit the road with Tubb, who became a mentor to the young singer and songwriter. By early 1957, Jackson had signed a recording contract with Columbia Records and cut his first record, "Don't Be Angry." Jackson followed up with a cover of George Jones' "Life to Go," which peaked at number two in early 1959. The ...

Waterloo - Stonewall Jackson

Columbia Musical Treasury of All Time Favorites presents: The Fabulous Fifties. No this is not ABBA.The Battle of Waterloo was fought on Sunday 18 June 1815 near Waterloo in present-day Belgium. An Imperial French army under the command of Emperor Napoleon was defeated by combined armies of the Seventh Coalition, one an Anglo-Allied army under the command of the Duke of Wellington and the other a Prussian army under the command of Gebhard von Blücher. It was the decisive battle of the Waterloo Campaign and Napoleon Bonaparte's last. The defeat at Waterloo put an end to Napoleon's ambitions to rule as Emperor of the French, and marked the end of his Hundred Days of return from exile. Upon Napoleon's return to power in 1815, many states that had opposed him formed the Seventh Coalition and began to mobilise armies. Two large forces under Wellington and von Blücher assembled close to the northeastern border of France. Napoleon chose to attack in the hope of destroying them before they could join in a coordinated invasion of France with other members of the Coalition. The decisive engagement of this three-day Waterloo Campaign (16 June 19 June 1815) occurred at the Battle of Waterloo. According to Wellington, the battle was "the nearest-run thing you ever saw in your life."[5] Napoleon delayed giving battle until noon on 18 June to allow the ground to dry. Wellington's army, positioned across the Brussels road on the Mont St Jean escarpment, withstood repeated attacks by the ...

STONEWALL: PROFILES OF PRIDE- Stonewall Riot Veterans

Before Prop 8, before Pride parades, before PFLAG, there was Stonewall. On June 27, 1969, a police raid on the Stonewall Inn in New York City sparked a rebellion by patrons who just weren't going to take it anymore. The riots went on for six more days and from that unrest, the modern gay rights movement as born. Hear eyewitness accounts of what really happened, from some of the men who were there. Were it not for their scene, there might not be an OURscene. We salute all the Stonewall veterans!

Community Protests Fort Worth Nightclub Raid on 4th Anniversary of Stonewall

cbs11tv.com Jun 28, 2009 6:49 pm US/Central DFW Gay Community Upset After Reported Bar Raid Selena Hernandez FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ― Members of the North Texas gay community are angry and they want answers. News of a raid Saturday Night of the Rainbow Lounge night club on South Jennings Avenue has sparked an outcry. Images posted on the Dallas Voice website have generated strong emotions from the community. Fort Worth police say early Sunday morning members of their department, along with 2 officers from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission conducted a raid at the brand new bar near downtown fort worth. Police say seven people were arrested for public intoxication and at least a dozen more were restrained. The incident was captured on camera and posted on local blogs. The scene was topic of conversation at Sunday's Million Gay March in Dallas, and the Cathedral of Hope in Dallas released a statement following its Sunday morning worship services. "After more than a generation of progress, this action shows that there is still much work to be done to ensure that all Americans enjoy 'equal protection under the law.' It is tragic that lesbian and gay taxpayers are still abused by the very people who are paid by our taxes." The community is upset because the raid happened on the 40 years anniversary of the "Stonewall raid." That raid, of a New York bar, is said to have launched the gay and lesbian civil rights movement. Raymond Gill was at the bar early Sunday morning ...
