FROM THEIR 1968 ALBUM "MAMAS AND PAPAS/ SOUL TRAIN". WENT TO #5 IN 1968. LYRICS: You were the sunshine, baby, whenever you smiled But I call you Stormy today All of a sudden that ole rain's fallin' down And my world is cloudy and gray You've gone away Oh Stormy, oh Stormy Bring back that sunny day Yesterday's love was like a warm summer breeze But, like the weather ya changed Now things are dreary, baby And it's windy and cold And I stand alone in the rain Callin' your name Oh Stormy, oh Stormy Bring back that sunny day [Instrumental break] Oh Stormy, oh Stormy Bring back that sunny day Bring back that sunny day Oh Stormy, [Fade] Oh Stormy
Lena Horne - Stormy Weather (1943)

Here's the full version of a performance that can be found truncated elsewhere on YouTube -- from the 1943 film of the same name, the great Lena Horne delivers a sizzling performance of her signature song. (I wish I had the full dance that follows it, which includes some amazing ballet. If anyone has a full-length version, please post it or get in touch with me!)

iConcerts - Santana - Stormy Monday (live)

iConcerts - Blues - Santana www.iconcerts.com Carlos Santana Presents Blues at Montreux 2004 : The blues carries the most profound essence of all the music that I love. I feel a deep humility and profound joy to be in the presence of the three stellar musicians on this show; each is as deep as the Pacific Ocean. Of these men, the first I heard was Bobby Parker. Steal Away and Watch Your Step were standards in Tijuana when I was a child. They were played by everyone just as much as Green Onions by Booker T. and Hide Away by Freddie King. The first time I saw Buddy Guy I felt the connection that Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jeff Beck had with his playing. I will always be grateful to Buddy Guy for electrifying the blues and bringing this genre of music to new heights. When I first listened to the music of Gatemouth Brown I heard the influence of T-Bone Walker, Saunders King, Freddie King, Hank Williams and Duke Ellington. Gatemouth Brown refused to be labeled a Bluesman so we honor him as a Renaissance Man. All of these musicians paved the road for Eric Clapton, Michael Bloomfield, Peter Green, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and me. It gives me great joy to share their brilliance with you this evening. French lighthouses and VERY BIG waves during stormy weather (+ description)

This video was taken on the 7th of december 2007 in "Raz de Sein" at the western tip of France, in Brittany, on a (very) stormy day. Those lighthouses isolated in the open sea are/were called "Hells" because of the roughness of living conditions inside these isolated buildings, frequently harassed by the elements. The first one seen in the video is Ar Men ("The Rock" in Breton), one of the best known lighthouses because of its isolated situation and the considerable difficulties its construction has presented (14 years were needed to build it !!), and the danger in evacuating its personnel. Considered as one of the most challenging workplaces by the community of lighthouse keepers, it has been named "The Hell of Hells". It has been automated in 1990. Later we can see Tévennec, a little known lighthouse situated on the east side of the Sein Island. It had such bad luck in store for its guardians that it was suspected to be baleful, or even haunted. Indeed, during stormy weather, some keepers reported that gloomy screams could be heard. Recently a cave was found in the rock on which Tévennec was built, that may explain the weird noises heard by the keepers. Since nobody wanted to live on this rock anymore, this lighthouse was automated way before the others, in 1910. Nowadays, general automation makes human presence useless aboard these ocean look-out posts. In 2004, Kéréon, the Palace of the sea, the last lived-in open sea lighthouse, definitely closed its doors over its ...

Vienna Teng - Lullaby For A Stormy Night

Lullaby For A Stormy Night Artist: Vienna Teng Album: Waking Hour (2001) Lyrics I Little child, be not afraid, Though rain pounds harshly against the glass Like an unwanted stranger, there is no danger, I am here tonight. Little child, be not afraid, Though thunder explodes and lightning flash Illuminates your tear-stained face, I am here tonight. Chorus And someday you'll know, That nature is so, The same rain that draws you near me. Falls on rivers and land, An forests and sand, Makes the beautiful world that you see In the morning. II Little child, be not afraid, Though storm clouds mask your beloved moon And its candlelight beams, still keep pleasant dreams, I am here tonight. Little child, be not afraid, Though wind makes creatures of our trees And their branches to hands, they're not real, understand And I am here tonight. Chorus And someday you'll know, That nature is so, The same rain that draws you near me. Falls on rivers and land, On forests and sand, Makes the beautiful world that you see In the morning. Bridge For you know, once even I Was a little child, And I was afraid. But a gentle someone always came To dry all my tears, trade sweet sleep for fears And to give a kiss goodnight. Chorus 2 Well now I am grown, And these years have shown, That rain's a part of how life goes. But it's dark and it's late, So I'll hold you and wait 'Til your frightened eyes do close. And I hope that you'll know, That nature is so,. The same rain that draws you near me. Falls on ...

The Allman Brothers Band - Stormy Monday

Artist: The Allman Brothers Band Track: Stormy Monday Album: The Fillmore Concerts The Allman Brothers Band, formed in 1969 in Macon, Georgia blended strains of Southern Rock music - Blues, R&B, Country, Jazz, and Gospel - into a flexible, jam-oriented style of Rock and Roll that reflected the emergence of the New South and set the style for Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Marshall Tucker Band, and countless other Southern rockers. Oddly - or eerily, some would say - the bands unusual string of untimely deaths has been repeated in other Southern-rock bands. Through personal tragedy and turmoil, the Allman Brothers Band has endured and, though lacking the commercial clout of its early-70s heyday, it remains highly respected and well received by legions of fans. Lead guitarist and band leader Duane Allman has been recognized as one of the greatest blues/rock guitarists in history, according to numerous polls. Brothers Gregg Allman and Duane Allman were living in Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1960, and played in various bands until 1963, when they formed the Escorts, which became the Allman Joys in 1965. After their version of Willie Dixons Spoonful failed as a single, the two brothers and three other band members went to LA, where they signed with Liberty Records as the Hourglass. They recorded two albums of outside material (Hourglass, 1967, and Power of Love, 1968) before heading to Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to record at Fame Studios. Liberty rejected the resulting tapes, and Duane and ...
