I spent mine eating lots and reading through The Hunger Games and the two other novels that follow it... I'm absolutely obsessed. (Peeta Mellark, anyone?!) "The Hanging Tree" appears in the final novel in the series, as a haunting song that Katniss sings for the mockingjays. I realize now there are already popular versions of this floating around, but when I first read these lyrics, I couldn't shake the melody that immediately popped into my head — I had to arrange and record it! I tried to give it as accurate of a mood as I could and play around with the mockingjay harmonies that Katniss mentions, so I hope you enjoy it. It was so much fun to work on! ♥ :) This is a first for me — I usually add lyrics to existing melodies and not the other way around, so if this sounds kind of weird, I apologize haha! It's a fairly disturbing song (as is its context in the novel) but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. Diego Stocco - Music from a Tree
In the garden of my house there's a tree with lots of randomly grown twigs. It looks odd and nice at the same time. One day I asked myself if I could create a piece of music with it. To tune the tree I picked a fundamental note and tuned the twigs by trimming them with a pencil sharpener. I used two Røde NT6 and a NTG-2 as microphones, combined with a customized stethoscope. I recorded the tracks live on a Pro Tools LE system. I didn't use any synthesizer or sampler to create or modify the sounds. All the sounds come from playing the tree, by bowing the twigs, shaking the leaves, playing rhythms on the cortex and so on. It has more of an enchanted or faerie tale feel than the main Minecraft world. The skies are perpetually dim, giving a darker, somewhat gloomy cast to the world below. An overstory of larger trees further shades most of the world below, creating a canopy covering most of the world (so thick that you can actually walk on it most places.) The canopy is pierced only occasionally by massive trees that rise to the ceiling of the world. The terrain is flatter, or at least less mountainous than regular Minecraft, but you will occasionally encounter hills, sometimes rising far above the canopy level. These hills are hollow too, containing caves filled with valuable ores, treasure and dangerous monsters. As you can see at the end the bird was not hurt. The Cormorant has been described as "large, stupid, clumsy and almost flightless". It certainly was a large species, and doubtlessly must have been clumsy on land. This combination made the bird an easy victim for sealers and other hunters who killed the cormorant for its meat. Whether the species was flightless, is open to debate. There is no anatomical evidence that it was.

In Epiosde 26 of Docm77´s NEW Minecraft World Tour, I show you the progress I made in the "Morning Wood Area". In addition to creating a nice SMERF setup in one of the trees, I give you an X-RAY vision of what is going on beneath the Perimeter. Also, as requested by many viewers, I do some caving and get owned up pretty badly by some creepers. You can clearly see, I often play on peaceful. That needs to change! I need to train my combat skills to be ready for update 1.8. You CANNOT stack bows! These bows are spawned items. I made a gigantic fire arrow dispenser wall because I want some kind of defence platform for the Perimeter. Lately, I use spc a lot for experiments. The community work around the channel takes a lot of time, so I do most of my experimental builds/testing arrays with the help of spc. When I see that a design works and makes sense, I am able to build it legitly. This is a good compromise I can live with. It helps me a lot. Nevertheless, I want to stick with legit gameplay for all my builds and creations you see in the World Tour, even if that means, we can´t make crazy progress every episode.
