Here is a clip taken directly from the recently released DVD "The Wager". This DVD recording is of the Premire Performance of "The Wager", a New Musical featuring the Classic story of Job set in Modern times. In this clip two of Job's children are Lamenting the loss of their younger sister, who has just died from a horse riding accident (the first, in a very long line of tragedies for the Job character and his family). Consisting of Tim Evans (later of Sea Scouts and Bird Blobs), Cameron Stopps and Paul Evans. Forming in Hobart, Australia, Mouth took the energy and ethics of Fugazi (who themselves claimed to be big fans) and made music of razorwire guitar (no top E-string needed), violent bass and solid drums over which Tim Evans screamed teeth-cutting punk poetics concerning Homophobia, feminism, ageism, social rights and psychological theory, delivering these songs with such rightous energy as to kickstart a minor revolution. Releasing the rapidly-sold-out cassette-only "Mouth" in 1992 and "jaw-droppingly intense" CD Victim Chant in early 1994 (released on Destroyer Records, and re-released in 2005 on Solar Sonar Records) which continues to convert listeners in increasing numbers Mouth continued to shock audiences live, where they truly shone. While the songs stand up on CD, there was no escaping the power of Tim Evans, 6-foot-something and with aa red, spiked crown of hair screaming with an unforced intensity about social injustices. Tim Evans' characteristic DIY-mentality saw a slow start come to a premature end once relocating to Melbourne and turning down label interest. Metallica/Thin Lizzy/ Whiskey in the Jar cover Jem (Belper School)
I have heard this song a lot since I have been playing guitar but never really thought about playing it myself until I started practising with Mid-Life Crisis and this song is off their set list. I jammed along with them playing the rhythm at a practice session recently and this got it into my head. I really like the Thin Lizzy version but Metallica's is tuned down and a lot heavier and I prefer that sound. I haven't tried to play it exactly the same as James Hetfield, when I watched a vid of Metallica playing in Dublin, I realised that he played the lead, or at least he did on that occasion. He plays it in a slightly different way, which I don't find easy as I have small hands. My solo is more like the Thin Lizzy version but this means more moving up and down the fret board. I listened to it on Metallica's Garage Inc cd and did most of it by ear, the rest by watching them play. So it isn't 100% accurate and it's not meant to be. I also made a few mistakes but I would sooner play live with a band than in front of my mums camera lol :-D \m/ Jem \m/

Not much to say, really.. this is an ad in one way, since it was made for Spitfire and Deluxe, but it's as honest as I can make it... these are the wheels I ride when I'm not reviewing other company's stuff or messing with other Spitfire urethanes. The Streetburners are my thing though... should you ride them? I HAVE NO CLUE! Different people like different things, these I love. Just sayin'!
