HARTFORD -- A racial incident at Trinity College last week has outraged students, faculty and the administration, and students plan a protest rally Tuesday at noon. Juan Hernandez, a sophomore from Chicago, said he was dropping off a friend at a dormitory about 2:30 am Friday when a white male threw a beer at Hernandez's car. Hernandez said he got out of his car and said, "Are you serious?" Hernandez said the man yelled "Get off our campus." Hernandez responded, "I'm a student here, idiot." He said the man replied, "Sure you are" and used the "n-word." "I ask him, 'So you're going to be racist?'" Hernandez said. The man responded, "Hell yeah," Hernandez said. Hernandez e-mailed an account of the incident to top administrators at the college, who are taking it seriously. Zimbabwe, Scotland, Canada, USA, Mexico, Germany, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Egypt. So it's an incredibly international group. Each brought their own culture, their own beliefs, their own religion and their own attitude. Given the fact that I was already doing a lot of focusing work with them, stress reduction kind of work. It occurred to me that Transcendental Meditation given what I'd seen in some of the research might be a perfect mesh precisely the kind of work I was doing. Trinity Squash Student - Tehani : Transcendental Meditation, actually I'm glad we started that this season. It helped me to calm down with my anger. I used to get really angry on court and after doing Transcendental Meditation the anger went away. Trinity Squash Student - Emily: This year especially we go into a really good routine and schedule. It helped doing Transcendental Meditation everyone has always said that as soon as we finish Transcendental Meditation we're all so much more relieved and have so much more energy to do our studies afterwards.

But not all the attention has been positive for Hartford-based Trinity College. The Trinity squash program is getting a healthy amount of criticism after one of its players taunted the opposition as the match ended. The incident took place at Yale's Payne Whitney Gym and involved Trinity's Baset Chaudhry, who got in the face of Yale's Kenneth Chanar. The Yale Daily News wrote about the incident: As Chaudhry was leaving the court to join the celebration Trinity's team and fans had started on the floor, he surprisingly shoved Chan back onto the court, marring the historic night and concluding a heated match between the two players that included taunting not normally seen in squash.
