Audi has announced the autonomous TT-S has successfully completed the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 27 minutes. While this doesn't sound terribly impressive, race officials estimated an expert driver would take approximately 17 minutes to finish the 12.42 mile (20 km) rally course in a standard TT-S. Furthermore, the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine - with 265 hp (198 kW / 269 PS) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of toque - enabled the car to reach speeds of 45 mph (72 km/h). To prevent 3241 pounds (1470 kg) of German engineering from flying off a cliff, the TT-S was outfitted with two computers which run different algorithms to calculate safety data and vehicle dynamics. More importantly, an advanced GPS system - with a margin of error under two centimeters - helped to keep the car on course. Check out the press release for additional information

The little mill also pumps out 258 pound-feet of torque between 2500 rpm and 5000 rpm. According to Audi, this 2.0-liter features a revised engine block, cylinder heads, pistons and connecting rods.
