Muslims Attack on Tunis Synagogue

Hordes of Western, modern-looking Muslims attack the Great Synagogue of Tunis to the chants of "Allahua Akbar!" and the genocial Islamic death chant: "Khaybar Khaybar ya yahud, Jaish Muhammad saya'ud," which means "Jews, remember Khyabar, the army of Mohammed is returning." This cry relates to an event in the seventh century when Muslims massacred and expelled Jews from the town of Khaybar, in modern-day Arabia. News of a prior attack on this synagogue had been wildly disputed, but one thing is certain: the media may be painting these violent uprisings as darling and quaint, but they are anything but. Islamic supremacism is being sold to an unwitting public. Here is a report from February 4th -- when I get more info on the video of the attack, I will report: Tunisia: Interim government still facing violence Spero News Marauders attacked a synagogue in Tunisia, as well as schools. Local vigilantes and the military drove them off. A synagogue was set on fire in Gabes, a city in southern Tunisia on February 1 as gangs rampaged through schools in Tunis. The army responded amidst fears of increasing disorder following the revolt that toppled former President Zine al-Abdine Ben Ali. Changes in the government have resulted in otherwise peaceful days since Ben Ali's departure on January 14, following days of protests that ended 23 years of strict police rule. There were reportedly 147 persons killed during Tunisia's days of rage.

Tunis police break up fourth day of protest

Tunisian police have broken up a fourth day of anti-government protests in the capital Tunis. They fired tear gas to force the demonstrators away from a central avenue. The scenes were similar to Saturday's violence when stone-throwing youths clashed with police. An overnight curfew failed to stop trouble breaking out during the day. Tunisia has struggled to restore stability since former President Ben Ali was ousted. ... www.euronews.net

A time for freedom and transparency. A time for people to express themselves freely and to be heard from anywhere across the world. Yet, the Tunisian government has decided it wants to control this present with falsehoods and misinformation and restrict the freedoms of their own people - all of this in order to impose upon them their own self-serving vision of the future. However, they can only accomplish this goal by keeping the truth hidden from its citizens and by putting restrictions on the free access of information. In doing so, the Tunisian government has made itself an enemy of ANONYMOUS. ANONYMOUS can not and will not remain silent while this happens. ANONYMOUS has heard the cries for freedom from the Tunisian people and has decided to help them win this battle against oppression. ANONYMOUS believes there have been and will be further changes in the way the world is organized, so that nevermore will small groups of people be able to restrain the fundamental freedoms of the collective that is humankind. ANONYMOUS therefore believes the Tunisian attempts at censorship are doomed to failure if only we, ANONYMOUS, the people, take up our individual responsibilities. Tunisia's Election And Islamic Movement

TUNIS, Tunisia — The campaign for the first elections born of the revolts that swept the Middle East began in Tunisia on Saturday, featuring 81 political parties in a country where more than 90 percent of the vote used to be awarded to just one. www.blossomingdeen.com Tunisians are electing a constitutional assembly after overthrowing their long-ruling leader President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in January following a month-long popular uprising that inspired similar movements in Egypt, Libya and elsewhere and has remade the face of the Arab world.www.washingtonpost.com While the past nine months have seen further demonstrations, local unrest and a rise in crime across this North African nation of 10 million, many hope the elections will bring stability. Tunisia's experiment with democracy after a half-century of autocratic rule will be closely watched — and monitored by dozens of observers — for its impact on the rest of the region. www.france24.com "The elections should take place under favorable conditions, but we are ready for any eventuality," said Kamel Jendoubi, the head of the commission overseeing elections. Security officials say that all forces will be mobilized to ensure stability during the elections. "We have no concerns for the security of the electoral process, and we have a lot of reason to be optimistic," Michael Gahler, the head of the European observer mission, said on a visit to the country. Cops in Crowd: Once-Feared Police Join Protests in Tunisia

Tunisia's once-feared police, who carried out the repressive policies of their now exiled president, were joining forces with protesters on Saturday as they marched through the streets of the capital. Some non-uniformed officers, wearing red armbands to distinguish themselves from civilians, led a protest in Tunis on Saturday to call for the creation of a police union and greater rights and pay. Saturday's development was significant because, while the army is respected, police were feared during the 23-year reign of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who fled eight days ago to Saudi Arabia after a month of deadly riots around the country.

Dizzy Gillespie, Arturo Sandoval,"Night in Tunisia"

This was a live recording of Dizzy and friends in Havana in 1985. "Night in Tunisia" was composed by Dizzy in 1942. In 1n 1985, Dizzy Gillespie returned to Cuba after an absence of 40 years. He was one of the first American jazz musicians to add Afro-Cuban elements to his music, and Cubans to his big band. Most notably, in the 40s, was percussionist, Chano Pozo. A then-young Arturo Sandoval (trumpet) and Gonzalo Rubalcaba (piano) sit in with Dizzy's band. Bari sax player, Sayyd Abdul al-Khabbyr, is remarkable. Walter Davis is on in this number.Great fun!
