Live the dream for less coin: a visual clone of the legendary Technics SL1200 series, at 1/3rd of the cost. This Audio-Technica is a heavyweight DJ-grade direct drive turntable with 78 RPM speed, quartz lock pitch control, fully adjustable S-shaped tonearm, and built-in pre-amp and USB output. It only comes with an entry level cartridge, but it tracks well and has crystal clear highs, better than anything I've had before. An upgraded cartridge will really make it sing, and I look forward to playing vintage 78s as well. The previous AT-PL120 model is the same thing except without the built-in USB output (which I don't plan on using anyway).

I pluged 2 x cdj-400 and a ddx5000 turntable into the djm-700 mixer i then went out of the rec out from the 700 and in to to a line in on the djm-800 mixer i had this channel up so ALL the audio from the 700 would be through this one chanel, and then i pluged a set of cdj-800's and another ddx5000 into the djm-800 and i went out of the rec out of the djm-800 and into a line in on the djm-600, now all the audio from the djm-700 and the djm-800 is now going through the one chanel of the djm-600 and then i pluged in the american audio MCD-710 and the cdj-200 into the djm-600 , phewwww!!! He uses a turntable along with a slider which gives his product videos a ton of interest. Since I have been doing more product reviews lately, I thought I would try out his technique to see if it fits my style. I contacted him and he was nice enough to give me some pointers. But first I needed to find a turntable that could handle some weight, then I remembered an old Perry Jenkin's video from DJTV. So I took Perry's advice and went to the hardware store to pick up 16" circular wood disc at Lowe's [3/4 x 16 AC/BC Fir Round Item #: 181834 | Model #:1213024], a 6" lazy Susan bearings at Home Depot to provide a bed for the rotation and then I found a really old rotisserie motor [Char-Broil EMS81 - discontinued] for $10 on Craigslist, this thing is really old I am guessing 20 years and it looked like it cooked a lot of birds. This motor is perfect because it rotates slowly and has a ton of torque. All the links to this products are on my blog post. I took the motor out of the casing because it need to be lubricated and I didn't need it anyway. I thought I would need a variable speed motor, but I didn't because the speed is perfect which is about 6 cycles per minute, if I wanted to slow down the footage slightly I could over crank at 30fps and conform down to 24fps. Watch as hidden animations come alive by using a specific frame rate and shutter speeds of a camera and RPM of a record player. To me this is one of the ultimate illusions. Definition of Illusion: something that deceives by producing a false or misleading impression of reality. I used a Numark turntable set to 45 RPM and the camera was set to 24 FPS. The shutter speed was set to around 840. With that combination of settings a 30 frame animation would appear to stand still. I used the slider to increase / descrease rpms which caused the images to move foward or backward. The sequence of the guy jumping on the blocks was the most difficult but turned out the best, in my opinion. The images of the guy jumping is me. I recorded myself jumping in the living room then took 30 frames from that footage and traced the images in photoshop and filled with black. Then printed out the 30 images and cut each one out. I used 30 wooden blocks and glued them to a piece of construction paper then taped the images of the jumping guy to the clear sheet and aligned them with the blocks. I also love the pac-man animation. It's so simple but just has such a cool feel to see the mouth opening and closing.
