Pair of Crescendo supertweeters off a MB Quart Discus 4125 bridged rear channels to 1 (500w x 1 @ 4ohm) Tweeters seeing about 150w to 200w each. HP off my Alpine 9887 at 3.2khz. Many boomboxes and stereos in the '80s and '90s had little metal discs "tweeters," often with grilles shaped to make them look like horn tweeters, that were wired up but didn't seem to actually do anything. Here I solve the question of whether these "super tweeters" really make any sound or if they're just totally fake. I also demonstrate one of a pair of 12-inch vintage 1962 woofers that were rescued from a Lowrey Brentwood tube-type electronic organ that was being dismantled about 7 years ago. I've had them crudely bolted into a pair of cardboard boxes ever since, and now I'm thinking of finally giving them a proper home in some real speaker cabinets with good midranges and tweeters to match. Providing the sound for both is a 1986 Realistic SA-10 mini stereo amplifier. This was one of Radio Shack's longest-lived pieces of audio equipment, sold all the way from the 1970s up to 1994. With 1.2 watts per channel it won't rattle any window panes, but its simple 10-transistor design gives excellent unmolested clean sound.

Ever since my high school band director introduced me to the ESS Heil Transformer Tweeters, I could not forget the pure sound of cymbals, violins, and the rich sound of voices coming though the silver box..... I always had the intention to buying stand-alone pair, but non was available until recently. Good 'ol eBay. The price is high but with a new credit card, I HAD to fulfill my dream to buy a pair before I really start to loose my hearing! I purchased the Magneplanar Magnepan SMG in the mid 80s. I had it since without any of the copper strands melting off. And I run these speakers HARD! Adding the ESS Heil Transformers to the Magnepans was a great idea! As BOTH drivers radiate sound forward and back, it IS the perfect marriage of both speakers! I have rich and excellent highs, withour the "scream" and the harshness of tweeters and super tweeters. I had the Realistic Super tweeters for the longest time, on the floor, facing the rear wall to get rid of any "screaming". It worked. But now with the ESS Heils on top, phased to the center of my Magnepan center, the sound is more incredible than I expected! DRUMS sound more solid! You can actually HEAR the impact of the drumstick to the drum skin! Voices are more rich, musical DETAIL is WAY more apparent! Frenchhorns sounds way more natural! Cymbals crash with more timbre, and NO harshness associated with tweeters, such as the Infinite EMIT. I did not expect the midrange AND the LOWER midrange to be greatly improved! These <b>...</b>

Diamond Tweeters Produce Clearer Sound in B&W Speakers Music lovers could be in for the ultimate listening experience, thanks to a new range of speakers containing parts made of diamond, writes Marina Murphy in the Chemistry & Industry magazine. But some tweeter domes made of traditional materials such as aluminium are susceptible to distortion at high frequencies. I was recently on a website and saw a comment that stated that horns tend to draw a lot of power, this is to show what type of horn is and is not effecient and draws more power from the amp the receiver used in this was a Denon DRA-625 the Drivers were a basic Piezo driver and a Peavey RX22 Titanium compression Driver. in this vid you will easily see that Piezo horns that are most used in Cheap DJ speakers or cheap stereo equipment do produce high frequency but it is harsh and power consuming as to where a normal tweeter, or horn driver will be less power consuming, more effecient and more broad. so for those of you looking into a new set of dj speakers or are just beginning to get in to djing here is some useful advise. I found this in the trash, but I never use it, so I thought I'd show what's inside one of these things. It uses a peizo disc connected to a paper cone to make sound. Unfortuatly i did damage it a little when I took it apart before i made this video, so when I show it playing I had to hold the metal piezo disc on to the cone so they make better contact.
