It's the strangest looking car we've ever tested on Web TV and if Renault is to be believed, it's the most revolutionary too: A two seater, four wheeled city car that's barely bigger than a motorcycle. Graham has been to France to find out if the Twizy could be the future of inner city motoring.

Twizy comes two forms: the Twizy 45, a 5 hp version with top speed limited at 45 kph for those who don't yet have their license or have lost their license; and the "regular" model with 17 hp for a top speed of 80 kph.

Renault Twizy Concept - Frnakfurt auto show 2009
Renault shocked Frankfurt with four EVs, and between this and the Zoe, there was a lot to look at. The Twizy is a 1 + 1 seat city concept, just over a metre wide meaning that theroetically, two can run side by side in a normal vehicle lane. Use hexagonal matrix as a design motif, and backlighting technology forms communication both inside and outside of the vehicle. Intresting stuff, some of what might at first appear very weird about this car is part of Renault's design team's desire to find a new language through which to express the electrically powered nature of the car

With the December 2nd launch of the very first iAd in Europe, the objective was to make Renault a pioneer of a new generation of mobility. iAd is Apple's new "revolutionary" mobile advertising concept, allowing brands to broadcast advertising directly within iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications. The Renault Twizy iAd is dedicated to the 100% electric urban two-seater automobile. It offers several original, useful and fun ways to "play around" with ideas about electric vehicles! For example, you can calculate the charging time of your Twizy, learn about different Twizy designs by waving your iPhone or iPod touch, and even pre-book an electric vehicle. The application, available now in France, the UK and soon in Germany, has already seduced thousands of mobile Internet users! The Twizy iAd was honored last 14th of January with the sought-after "Mobile of The Day" award by the FWA (Favourite Website Awards) for its design and technology.

The Renault Twizy, the new electric car from Renault. The Available at the end of 2011 www.drive.co.uk has always been enthusiastic about the Twizy. Renault has taken the opportunity of the Barcelona Motor Show to announce the worldwide pricing of the Renault Twizy. Reservations can now be made at the Renault ZE site for a €20 deposit. Prices start at €7690 for the Twizy 45 and €8490 for the Twizy, there will be two variants the Urban and the Technic with a 5hp or 17hp motor. Batteries for the vehicles will be leased with a cost of €45-49 per month. Young drivers will now be able to take control of a vehicle safer than a two-wheeler and radical in design. In some countries it will possible for the Twizy 45 to be driven without a driving licence. The 45 will give a top speed of 45kph and the 17hp motor will do a wheel popping 80kph/50mph. The Twizy with its passive safety features offer two occupants sat in tandem greater safety compared with a two-wheeled vehicle. The battery will charge in just 3 1/2 hours giving a range of 100km/ 62 miles. There are load of optional extras, weather extras and even rear parking sensors, The vehicles can be fully personalised and their is a great application on the Twizy Site for customising a virtual model of the cars. Vauxhall / Opel's new Corsa VXR Nürburgring Edition promises to be one of the quickest cars in its class. With performance of 0-60mph in just 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 143mph, the Corsa Nürburgring will deliver all the driving thrills you'd expect from a car wearing the legendary track's name. Not content with re-shaping the car market by pioneering the crossover -- Nissan is now creating the Juke-R, the first ever super crossover that thinks it's a GT-R. Renault's intriguing electric two-seat Twizy is set to hit European streets shortly, and as part of the buzz in the lead-up to its launch, specification has just been confirmed for the third trim level, Colour. Tesla have announced that a high-performance version of the Model S saloon will be available from the car's launch in 2012, giving the electric car maker a rival for the BMW M5. The performance version of the all-electric luxury saloon will be offered with a battery pack with a 300-mile range and enhanced power electrics to cut its 0-60mph time from 5.5sec to 4.6sec. Tesla also confirmed that the Model S would be offered with optional aerodynamic wheels, boosting the range of the 300-mile range cars by 20 miles.

This compact french-design electric car is to be released about a year from now, it has a range enough for use in cities, and the size is in between scooter and small car, easy to park, it's actually a two-seater.
