It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to do the moves (didn't learn de ashi barai). I remember as a kid I just tried to bash and beat the joystick in different directions and hope for the best. The moves can be made by holding down the fire button and making a movement combination like back - down - forward etc. and releasing the fire button. The moves don't need to be very precise, but can be interrupted by the opponent. The hip throws are two part combos in which the opponent is first drawn over the hip and then from this pose it's possible to do at least two kinds of throws. www.lemon64.com

It's the year 2000 and I was only a Judo yellow belt at that time. I was to face a much more experienced and stronger opponent in shiai. They say the belt is only worth tying the jacket, I tend to disagree but this time it proved that belt rank is in no way a guarantee of victory as I unleashed an Uchi-mata-makikomi for ippon after my opponent tried a kosoto-gari counter to a very poor osoto-gari by myself. Yes, sometimes the smaller guy wins :-)
