The Napalm Records crew is happy to announce that Van Canto has joined its ranks. The German vocal acrobats signed a worldwide deal with the Austrian label and are currently working with Charlie Bauernfeind on their new album at the Blind Guardian Studios. The full-length will hit the streets in 2010. Fans may look forward to sweeping songs clad in the unique Van Canto sound. In addition, the bands first two albums (A Storm To Come and Hero) will be released at the same time as their yet untitled new work. Enjoy! -- Van Canto (stylized as van Canto) is an a cappella metal band from Germany, founded in 2006 and composed of five singers and a drummer. Although the group is often classified as an a cappella ensemble, they use real drums in their music, instead of vocal percussion or beatboxing. Van Canto fuses a cappella with heavy/power metal, creating what they call "a capella hero metal". While only two of the five singers perform the lead vocals, the other three will instead use their voices to imitate the guitars and the bass, with the help of amplifiers, in an attempt to sound closer to the original instruments. --- Nightwish is a symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland, formed in 1996 by songwriter/keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and former vocalist Tarja Turunen. Nightwish's current line-up has five members, although Tarja has been replaced by Anette Olzon and the original bassist, Sami Vänskä, has been replaced by Marco Hietala, who also took over the male vocalist part; previously male vocal-parts were done by Tuomas or guest singers.
