F-22 Raptor

Quite simply one of the most legendary fast jet demos of recent years, showing the possibilities available to a pilot when he has 360 degrees of Vectored Thrust to play with. This aircraft is one of the Mig29M prototypes, retro fitted with 360 degree thrust vectoring nozzles, enabling it to turn within its' own axis and produce the amazing manouvers you see here, including the backflip, the super cobra, and the flat spin. All under total control. Also, during the final part of the display, we see the pilot stop playing around and open the jet up and really let rip with a very high speed rolling loop, for me possibly the highlight of the display. This aircraft is still in this colour scheme, but sadly, like most Russian fighters rarely ventures outside Russia, but it came over in 2006 to do Farnborough and the Paris air show. Here is its' moment of magic . . .

This is the conga line vector tape from Chicago ATC. A controller was working aircraft landing at Midway airport. This is a description of the incident by the controller on the tape. "Working 13C @ Midway airport, strong winds out of the southwest were blowing the arrivals north. This took place while delay vectoring a string of aircraft to the airport. While giving a relief briefing to another controller, AAL311 starts giving the pre-landing speech to the cabin and crew on the ATC frequency. Hearing his comments about waiting in line, I started up with the conga line musing and was issuing control vectors to be funny, rather than tell him he was on frequency. All other aircraft on frequency heard this as well, which lead to laughing replies to instructions."

I was kinda dissapointed when I found out that the f-35A (Our future fighter) will not have thrust vectoring. With the system experimented with the x-31 prototype, the f-35 can perform much better than the su-47 in combat.

This F35 was built using de-papered 5mm foam board and hot glue. This build was my first full fuse build as well as my first EDF jet! Plans were by "Mr. Boogie" and can be obtained from parkjets.com or rcgroups.com. My modifications to the original plans are as follows: -Increase size (125%) to fit 64mm fan -install 360deg thrust vectoring nozzle unit -add extra ducting to inlet to smooth out airflow -mount motor further forward -one piece wing with KFm4 airfoil (50%) Stats: 26" WS 2200 3S 25C lipo 64mm fan 5250KV BL motor 50A ESC (only need 40A) 4 servos delta mixer AUW 23oz Check out PT. 2 for the MAIDEN!

Something approachable for a young audience and their parents. Thankfully, there are some very talented illustrators selling their vector artwork on sites like Shutterstock. Now, these kinds of sites are definitely a controversial subject. The practicalities of modern publishing collide against the ethics of paying a fair wage for talent. I'm on both sides of that particular debate. I use these sites every day for one project or another, but I recognize that the quality is not always ideal and that you can't beat a custom illustration or photograph. That controversy isn't going to get settled in one post, so let's put it aside for now. In purely art director terms, I knew I couldn't just download Kikoo's illustrations as-is and have them be usable in Happy Birthday, Robot. For one thing, almost none of her kids are actually sitting down. Only one, the third girl from the left, is left in her original position. All the other kids are arms, legs, torsos and heads Frankensteined together to form new kids. I also made the pencils, dice and coins, but that's not a big thing. And once all that was done, I revised details like making all the eyes are the same style, that there are new textures applied to the colors and a <b>...</b>
