The Vegetarian Myth

Peak Moment 191: What we eat is destroying both our bodies and the planet, according to author Lierre Keith, a recovering twenty-year vegan. While she passionately opposes factory farming of animals, she maintains that humans require nutrient-dense animal foods for good health. A grain-based diet is the basis for degenerative diseases we take for granted (diabetes, cancer, heart disease) - diseases of civilization. Annual grain production is destroying topsoil and creating deserts on a planetary scale. Lierre urges the restoration of perennial polycultures for longterm sustainability. =================== Audio and transcript of this show at www.peakmoment.tv Friend us on Facebook Peak Moment TV page www.facebook.com or Janaia www.facebook.com Follow @peakmomenttv on Twitter Because of viewers like you, this show is free to the world on YouTube. Reasons to be Vegetarian.

Meet your Meat documentary: www.youtube.com List of famous vegetarians: en.wikipedia.org I've wanted to make this video for a while now, as I'm really enthusiastic about vegetarianism. I'm just stating my own opinions here though, and I know some of you will disagree with the points I make, which is fine. Also, I'm sorry if I sound patronising at all in this video. I didn't mean to, and I DON'T think I'm better than anyone who eats meat, I just choose not to eat it for my own personal moral reasons. I hope this video at least gets people thinking about the topic though, and generates some discussion. Please feel free to leave comments with your thoughts on vegetarianism. Also, feel free to point out how annoying that little white piece of fluff is on my left shoulder xD

Vegetarian Bodybuilding

scoobysworkshop.com Being a vegetarian will not reduce your ability to add muscle, I'm one and it hasn't hurt me. Those who think vegetarians cant be successful bodybuilders either don't understand the different kinds of vegetarians or don't understand bodybuilding nutrition. Arnold fostered the incorrect view that you have to eat muscle to gain muscle. The trouble with the word "vegetarian" is that so many people have used it in so many different ways that it has basically become useless so it has been replaced by more specific and meaningful words. The useless word "vegetarian" has been replaced by the following two more specific and useful words: Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian: A vegetarian whose diet includes dairy products, eggs, vegetables, fruits, grains, and nuts Vegan: A strict vegetarian who consumes no animal food or dairy products When people today say "Vegetarian" what they are really talking about is a lacto-ovo vegetarian. In other words, a diet that does not include the parts of an animal that were not given up freely. Animals happily give up their eggs and milk so vegetarians can eat those. One reason people mistakenly believe that vegetarians cant be bodybuilders is that they mistake vegans for vegetarians. The ability to consume eggs and dairy products makes an incredible difference. Vegans (those who consume no animal products whatsoever) are at a big disadvantage when it comes to adding muscle but vegetarians are not hindered at all -- lets look at why this is ...

The Goddess Hekate & Vegetarianism ...

Author Sorita d'Este discusses vegetarianism / veganism in the context of the Goddess Hekate. In the book Hekate Liminal Rites, which she co-authored with David Rankine, there is a chapter discussing and providing an overview of just some of the ancient philosophers, witches and priestesses linked to Hekate. The authors noted that there were links to vegetarianism, and what would be described animal rights activism today in the writings of several of these - a concept which some readers found offensive. There is no doubt that voluntary vegetarianism, and more so veganism, evokes strong emotive responses in some. Sorita discusses this in the context of the book and the work and beliefs of modern devotees. *** Please note that this video contains some graphic video showing animal abuse in processing plants. *** Sarah Taylor, the "Vegan Next Door", gives the very good health and ethical reasons for vegetarians who are asking, " Why should I give up dairy and egg products, too?", as well as specific tips to make the change to a healthier lifestyle both easy and pleasurable. Sarah reviews the research linking animal protein and dairy consumption to breast cancer, prostate cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis and auto-immune disease, and the ground-breaking work done by T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D., Caldwell Esselstyn, MD, and Joel Fuhrman, MD She describes the psychologically and physically debilitating treatment, as well as the crowded, dirty conditions which the vast majority of laying hens endure throughout their lives in factory farms, often even those labeled as "cruelty-free" or "cage-free". For those inspired to switch to a healthier lifestyle, Sarah offers welcome information on pleasing taste buds used to dairy cheeses and milk, and issues her own 30-day vegan challenge! A vegan since 2002, Sarah Taylor is the creator of the popular blog "The Vegan Next Door", and the author of "Vegan in 30 Days", as well as the new book "Vegetarian to Vegan". Vegetarians Aren't Perfect

Before you accuse someone of being a hypocrite, really consider whether or not what you are saying has fair ground. For instance... if I say killing people is wrong & turn around to pay my taxes (much of which goes directly to war) I am a bit of a hypocrite, no? If I had a major stance against killing to an extreme degree, funding war would be... unfathomable... and yet you, me... so many people do it. The same goes with Vegetarianism & Veganism... you know? Like, we think it's wrong to kill animals... but we still walk outside inevitably stepping on bugs & eating food that likely has shredded up insects blended into them (another inevitability of harvesting crops). The world is not perfect, but we do our best to make sense of it all.

Why Atheists should become Vegetarians

I urge all Atheists to please abandon eating animals. It is cruel, barbaric and insane to kill an animal so you can eat its carcass. Sentient beings should not be subjected to cruelty. Consent is a BIG word in Atheism. We cannot do anything to any creature without its consent right. So how is it then ethical to kill an animal and deprive it of its right to existance without its consent? Leave the killing and maiming for the religious nutters. They have their animal sacrifice rituals to attend to that are mandated by their bloodthirtsy god. We Atheists must be above all that. We have no gods to appease.

2012: Veganism & Vegetarianism: Will it Stop Animal Abuse?

What's necessary to actually End all animal abuse taking place in the world? Is not consuming animal products the answer when most of humanity has little or no choice in their diet and only a minority of the population can afford such choice? Or do we require a solution to the current economic system so that the entire population is supported to be able to make such choices? Cause anything that only a small portion of the population can implement is not an actual solution when the majority of the world population can't implement it as well. If you support the current system then you support the animal abuse as well, because the animal abuse can't be stopped without changing the system, thus it doesn't matter if you consume animal products or not, as the cause of the animal abuse is not that we're consuming them, but that those who have no choice are driven to utilize animals for their very survival. Thus the 'survival point' must be removed by implementing an Equal Money System - where all will be supported with the money necessary to have choice and no longer be driven by fear for survival - as that is where/how/why most of the abuse being done in the world come from. Thus to End animal abuse, support an Equal Money System - equalmoney.org For more discussions visit the Forum at desteni.org Listen to this new and ongoing series of interviews sharing the history of the Interdimensional Portal from the perspectives of the dimensional beings who were there when it first ...

Vegetarian Chili Recipe: Soulful & Full of Flavor

Vegetarian chili that is full of soulful flavor and hearty enough to stick to your bones??? Say it aint so!!!! I'll admit vegetarian chili didn't sound that appealing to me at first. I guess I'm just not a real veggie lover (although I'm trying to be) I'm a meat & potatoes, (cakes, cookies, ice cream, pies, candy,) kinda girl and it just seemed like a cruel thing to do to chili...you know, adding all those vegetables and stuff. My oldest sister, who is a vegetarian, has been telling me how fabulous her vegetarian chili recipe is for the longest. Even though she is one of those "healthy people" I trust her when she tells me something vegetarian tastes good. She was raised on my mothers and grandmothers soulful cooking and knows how to doctor up those vegetarian dishes like a seasoned pro. Since so many of us are trying to watch our weight this time of year, I figured you would appreciate a hearty, savory, yet healthy dish to add to your recipe collection. (you can thank for my sister Nikki, although I did tweak this recipe a bit from the original) This vegetarian chili recipe does not disappoint! It's hearty, mild enough for my toddler, yet my spicy, meat- chili-loving husband gave it 5 stars! I found myself eating my second bowl without even noticing it. It's loaded with fresh vegetables like zucchini, peppers and corn, three kinds of beans, and a perfect blend of savory spices! This vegetarian chili can easily be customized with your favorite veggies or kick up the ...

How to Win an Argument with a Vegetarian - Denise Minger

Vegetarianism is frequently cited as being a healthier diet than omnivorism or a paleo diet. This presentation examines the evidence behind vegetarian and vegan health claims, including the Adventist Health Studies, heart disease studies, and the success of plant-based diets ala Esselstyn and Ornish with treating chronic disease. Tofurky Thanksgiving Vegan / Vegetarian Turkey

Tofurky Thanksgiving - Vegan, Vegetarian, Meatless What do vegans eat for Thanksgiving? What do vegetarians eat for Thanksgiving? How do you have Thanksgiving Dinner without Turkey? How to bake Tofurky? What does Tofurky taste like? We will try to answer your Meatless, Vegan, Vegetarian Thanksgiving questions together! Tofurky has become a Thanksgiving staple for my vegans and vegetarians, but I have never tasted it before. Ingredients you will need to buy in addition to your Tofurky: 2 Potatoes or Yams, quartered and peeled 2 Large carrots split down the middle and cut into 2 inch pieces 1 onion, quartered and peeled And for the Tofurky Baste: 3 tablespoons olive oil 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 ½ teaspoon fresh or ground sage (optional) How to bake a Tofurky: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (F). Prepare the vegetables. Peel and quarter the onion. Peel and chop the potatoes. If you are using adult carrots, slice them down the middle and chop them as well. Be sure not to slice the vegetables too small. You want them to be hardy enough to withstand a long baking time. Prepare the Tofurky Baste. It is simple. Just whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, and ground sage. Remove the thawed Tofurky from the plastic. Scissors will make this easier. Place it is a bake safe pot that has a tight lid. Surround it with the vegetables and pour half of the baste on top. Bake with the lid on for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Return to pour the other half of the baste onto the Tofurky. Bake ...

Ex-Vegetarian who is now anti-vegetarian

A response to a video I've seen recently made by an ex-vegetarian who is now in support of an equal money monetary system, and as a result, sees no point in vegetarianism or veganism, claiming it is ineffectual and selfish, and achieves no real results. The only reason veganism may not achieve results is because of government subsidies, otherwise, last time I checked, the laws of supply and demand still exist. 2010 VegetarianISM: Just Another RELIGION www.youtube.com www.Earthlings.com www.meatvideo.com
