London welcomed the Red Bull Mini Drome to York Hall, where over 1000 spectators gathered to get a taster of the world's smallest velodrome in action. Fixed gear riders from across the UK tried to hold on to the red line as they rode around the track aiming for the fastest time. The purpose built track has been engineered in Germany by Velotrack, the team that built the velodromes for the Atlanta Olympics and the Delhi Commonwealth Games. The Red Bull Mini Drome track will maintain race-worthy dimensions in the smallest possible size to enable a single pursuit. RedBull.com

The Revolution Series is the UK's premier track racing league. Every winter at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester there are four Saturday evenings worth of top quality of racing. All the biggest starts in British Cycling raced in these this year; from Mark Cavendish to Chris Hoy.We felt this was the perfect occasion to create a unique client entertainment event where passionate cyclists would get the chance to ride around the velodrome and get coached by Olympic coaches and riders just before seeing the professionals do the same thing in the evening. We had 25 people (clients, journalist and IG staff) for the training session. Some lucky few where picked up from Manchester station in the impressive Team Sky bus and driven to the velodrome so they got the true professional athlete experience. For safety reasons only half we allowed on the track at the time while the other group warmed up on Wattbikes, the British Cycling state of the art cycling exercise bikes. Those on the track would start of the bottom of the track in the safe blue zone and then gradually make their way up the banking as they went faster and grew in confidence. Alongside them they had Geraint Thomas (Olympic Track Gold medalist and Team Sky rider) and Alex Dowsett (Team Sky rider) riding and giving them tips about technique. Once everyone had had a go around the track was confident enough everyone was tasking with setting a fastest lap time with the prize for the fastest 8 being the chance to <b>...</b>

USA Cycling hands down suspensions for bad conduct By Mark Zalewski The Morning Call of Allentown, PA reported on Wednesday that Andy Lakatosh, Marty Nothstein and Leigh Barczewski have been suspended by USA Cycling resulting from a June 10 incident during a keirin race at the Lehigh Valley Velodrome. Lakatosh reportedly grabbed Jame Carney's handlebars, causing Carney to crash following the final race of the KidsPeace Bicycle Racing League Finals. It was observed that Lakatosh's actions were retaliation for earlier actions by Carney that caused another rider, Ben Barczewski (Leigh's son), to crash. At the time, race officials disqualified Carney and Lakatosh from the event. However, Carney filed grievances with USA Cycling against the four race officials, as well as against Ben Barczewski, his father/coach Leigh Barczewski, Marty Nothstein and Mike Grabowski. The officials, along with Nothstein, were charged with collusion for disqualifying Carney because of the crash. Nothstein serves as the velodrome's COO and Director of Cycling Operations. The charges against the officiating crew and Grabowski were eventually dismissed. USA Cycling CEO Gerard Bisceglia told the Morning Call that Lakatosh's suspension is until January 2006 and that Ben Barczewski was issued a reprimand for a verbal confrontation with Carney. For those who are unfamiliar with velodrome racing, it is an event that takes place in the Olympics. There are only two indoor velodrome tracks in the United States and one of them happens to be in Boulder, Colorado. Boulder Indoor Cycling hosts a race night at the beginning of each month. The event is called "First Friday", and this is a video of the races that took place on March 2, 2012. I've watched a lot of velodrome videos on the internet recently and I have not seen too many that are edited to music. Most of the videos are shots from different races varying from POV shots with GoPro cameras or amateur handheld shots of different races. I wanted to do something different for the cycling industry and wanted to help promote Boulder Indoor Cycling. I edited the video like my other edits using a variety of angles and editing to the music to tell a story. A big thanks goes out to Artie and the rest of the staff at Boulder Indoor Cycling for hosting a great event and allowing me to film and I hope to do more work like this for the cycling industry in the near future.
