Hello, My name is Sara, and this is my crappy video of my sweet sugar gliders. The sound quality sucks but thats okay :) I really made the video for my boyfriend, I love you Ole! so he can see our babies, while he is over seas. For the rest of you watching: I pretty much just go over some suggie basics, food, crabbing / barking noises, potty training, nail clipping, exercise balls, and all around cuteness. re food: mix it up a bit, and give them variety find out what they like. i feel there is no need for a complex diet that just makes it harder on you and not much difference to them. there are some crazy diets out there that really turn people off of buying sugar gliders however it does not have to be that difficult at all. re potty training, i think the part where i mention this got cut out of my crappy editing job but although they can not be potty trained if you buy unscented wet naps (for babies) and wipe their butts then that feeling will cause them to go to the wash room, so if you do this before you play with them then there is less of a chance of you becoming their litter box. It takes time to teach them that this is what you are doing but just be persistent. re: nail clipping i just used normal clippers that we would use and i watched some youtube videos on how to do it re: exercise balls just make sure that their tails can not get caught in the gaps these are very unique fun pets to have, i wish more ppl knew about them and wanted them as pets!

18 inch sugar glider exercise wheel


I threw together this 18" exercise wheel tonight and put it into this 30" x 30" cage that I have been using for playtime. The sugar gliders took right to it and started doing their usual acrobatic moves. This is just a prototype design and isnt the safest thing around right now, but it gives me a good starting point to making a safer extra-large wheel. I wasnt able to capture anything grand on video tonight so I think I'll give it a try inside of the tent sometime and see what I can get. These little gliders truly are amazing in the dark.

A single sugar glider playing in her exercise wheel at tent time. The fast motion camera requires a good amount of light so I had to wait in the dark for her to be running or spinning on it and then I would turn on the lamp and record what I could. The light naturally disturbed her and she would usually just stop running. Gliders need exercise wheels for mental stimulation when kept in a cage, and they immediately begin to find ways to have fun in them which includes riding them around and around after running them up to speed as well as leaping in the air to do cartwheels. Another drill we do in the Gliding for Figure Skaters workout helps develop the sit spin or "shoot the duck" position. This spin is particularly challenging for skaters who begin at older ages or adult skaters, simply because it is difficult to have both the strength and balance necessary to achieve and hold the position. This drill is a sport-specific technique for developing that strength and balance, but particular attention needs to be paid to form if you want to see improvement.
