Gliding for Figure Skaters: Sit Spin Drill


Another drill we do in the Gliding for Figure Skaters workout helps develop the sit spin or "shoot the duck" position. This spin is particularly challenging for skaters who begin at older ages or adult skaters, simply because it is difficult to have both the strength and balance necessary to achieve and hold the position. This drill is a sport-specific technique for developing that strength and balance, but particular attention needs to be paid to form if you want to see improvement.
