Now place one open-end adjustable wrench on the compression nut while placing the second wrench on the water supply valve itself. Once in position hold the water supply valve in place with one wrench while turning to loosen the compression nut with the second wrench. Once the compression nut is loose turn it by hand and remove the valve from the water pipe. When the old valve is removed the compression nut and ring will remain attached to the water supply line. These parts should be reused on the new water supply valve if they are in good condition. However, if corroded or otherwise damaged they will have to be cut off and replaced. Expect water to drain out of the pipe when the valve is removed so prepare to quickly switch valves. The water can be collected in a small bin that has been placed beneath the valve before removal. The new valve, which was made ready, needs to be fully inserted into the water pipe and aligned vertically. Screw the compression nut onto the water supply valve hand tight. Then take the two open-ended adjustable wrenches and tighten the <b>...</b>

Electric Water Heater Installation
Learn how to install an electric water heater with these step by step instructions. To install an electric water heater, you will need common plumbing tools, screwdrivers, a circuit tester or voltmeter, and pipe joint compound. If you have copper pipes, installation kits are available. Make sure electrical power is off. Check the circuit for power. Let the hot water run until cool. Drain the water heater. Disconnect the electrical wires. Remove the discharge pipe. Connect hot and cold lines to the correct fittings. If soldering, solder the pipe to an adapter first, then connect the adapter to the water heater using pipe joint compound. Add a thermal expansion tank to the cold water line. Attach the discharge pipe to the temperature and pressure release valve. Never cap or plug the discharge pipe. Turn the cold water supply valve on and fill the tank. Open the hot water faucet and let the hot water run full for 3 minutes. Check the water pressure. Check for leaks. Check the wiring. Connect the power wires. Learn how to replace a gas hot water heater with the step by step instructions in this video. You will need wrenches and other common plumbing tools. You will also need pipe joint compound or Teflon® tape. You can make gas leak detection solution with children's soap bubbles or dish washing liquid. For copper pipes, you can purchase an installation kit that does not require soldering. First, make sure the gas supply and gas control knob have been turned off. Let the hot water run until cool. Drain the water from the hot water heater. Remove the discharge pipe from the old temperature and pressure relief valve. Disconnect the vent pipe and union and remove the gas pipe. If soldering pipe, do not solder pipes while they're attached to the water heater. Instead, solder to an adapter and install the adapter with pipe joint compound or Teflon® tape. Install a thermal expansion tank. Check the home's water pressure. Attach the discharge pipe. Do not cap or plug the discharge pipe. Install the new draft hood and attach the vent pipe. Install the gas pipe. Turn the gas supply on and check for leaks. Correct any leaks and retest. Turn the cold water supply on and check for water leaks. Open a hot water faucet and allow the water to run full for 3 minutes. Install the air filter and vacuum occasionally. To light a water heater, turn the control knob to pilot and press the knob fully. Hold the knob in and click the igniter button once per second until the status light begins to <b>...</b>
