Xuefei Yang plays Sevilla by Isaac Albeniz

Supremely talented guitarist Xuefei Yangs second disc for EMI Classics, 40 Degrees North, comprises guitar music from Spain and China. The disc is so titled because the capital cities of both countries lie near latitude 40 degrees north. As Yang herself says, "To me, this parallel has come to symbolize the connection I feel to the music of both countries." The Spanish repertoire includes original solo guitar compositions (such as Tárregas Carnival of Venice) as well as arrangements of pieces written for piano or two guitars (Albénizs Seguidillas). Many of these works appear in new arrangements by Yang herself. Since China has no established guitar repertoire of its own, the Chinese pieces on this recording originate either from arrangements of traditional Chinese pieces (including two traditional Chinese folk songs arranged for guitar by Gerald Garcia), or new compositions based on Chinese themes (such as Welsh composer Stephen Gosss Chinese Garden, written especially for Yang). Also included on this recording is Butterfly Lovers, originally written as a violin concerto using Western orchestral instruments and arguably the best known piece of Chinese music. ________________________________________ More information: www.yang40degreesnorth.com ________________________________________ Buy from Amazon (USA) www.amazon.com ________________________________________ Buy from Amazon (UK): astore.amazon.co.uk ________________________________________ Buy from Amazon (FR): www.amazon <b>...</b>

Xuefei Yang - Rodrigo: Concierto de Aranjuez

ORDER YOUR COPY HERE: links.emi.com ... Guitarist Xuefei Yang's third recording for EMI Classics features two works with orchestra, Joaquín Rodrigo's beloved Concierto de Aranjuez and the world premiere of a newly-composed concerto by Stephen Goss, coupled with solo works by Albéniz and Rodrigo. The exclusive iTunes bonus track is the Zapateado by Regino Sainz de la Maza, who was, coincidentally, the dedicatee of the Concierto de Aranjuez. Xuefei Yang, known to her friends as Fei, is a ground-breaking virtuoso who is currently forging an impressive, if unlikely, career on the world's premiere stages and inspiring critical acclaim for her performances of wide-ranging repertoire. The New York Times wrote, "Yang demonstrates her feisty virtuosity, impeccable technique and sensitive musicianship in repertory ranging from Albéniz to arrangements of Western pop and Asian songs. Ms Yang seems a Spaniard at heart, her guitar singing as if she had grown up in the shaded courtyards of Andalusia." Fei learned Rodrigo's signature concerto at the age of 16. It is one of her calling cards and she performs it all over the world. In 2003 alone, she played the concerto's second movement in over 50 concerts of a pop-meets-classical tour called Night of the Proms for a total audience of over 800000 in stadiums across Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Following one performance of the concerto, The Scotsman wrote, "There is no question that [Yang] is a star in the making...her reading of <b>...</b>

XUEFEI YANG - BACH CONCERTOS

NEW ALBUM AVAILABLE HERE: links.emi.com ... The Beijing-born guitarist Xuefei Yang has recorded her first album of baroque music, an all-Bach programme anchored by three concertos newly arranged for guitar and string quartet. Bach Concertos is an exciting, innovative album in which she has transcribed for the guitar some of Bach's familiar violin concertos and other works, hoping to establish these new arrangements as noteworthy repertoire for the guitar and to expand the concerto repertoire for that instrument. Xuefei complements the concertante repertoire with solo guitar arrangements of the Violin Sonata No. 1 BWV 1001, the Prelude in C Major from the Well-Tempered Klavier BWV 846 and the Air on a G string from the Orchestral Suite in D major BWV 1068.

La sagrada Familia John Miles Feat. Xuefei Yang Night of the Proms

Night of the Proms is a series of concerts held yearly in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Poland. Regularly there are also shows in France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. The concerts consist of a combination of pop music and popular classical music (often combined) and various well-known musicians and groups usually participate (see below). Night of the Proms is the biggest annually organised indoor event in Europe. Not to be confused with the Last Night of the Proms, which is the last concert of the BBC Proms, a series of seventy or so classical concerts held yearly in the Royal Albert Hall in London. History Night of the Proms was created by two Belgian students, Jan Vereecke and Jan Van Esbroeck in 1985. The first NotP took place at the Antwerp Sportpaleis in Belgium on 19 October 1985. Nowadays the event is organized by PSE Belgium (Promotion for Special Events), still managed by Jan Vereecke and Jan Van Esbroeck. For the concerts outside the Benelux countries, PSE co-operates with local promoters (Dirk Hohmeyer in Germany, GPE Producciones in Spain, etc.).
