Yak Polo is the funniest sport I have ever seen. Rules are simple...5 players to a side; dogs, horses and people on the field of play are ok; no time-out for out-of-control yaks or fallen players although time-out is called for drinks; change ends if one team appears to be doing too well. Red Star Pilots Association March Meet @Flying W Airport Lumberton, New Jersey Sunday March 22, 2009 IN THIS VIDEO, watch as I climb into the back seat of a Nanchang CJ-6A for a formation flight over South Jersey. We took off from Flying W's Runway 19 and proceeded towards the southwest, and had absolutely no issues with the weather, as you can see in the video. Take note of when I zoom in on the aircraft and note that the wingmen have FULL CONCENTRATION on a fixed point of lead's airplane. The Red Star Pilots Association held a small gathering at the Flying W Airport to help "scrape off the rust" with formation flying in preparation for the warmer weather, airshow season, and upcoming fly-ins later on in the year, to include a larger formation flyover at EAA Oshkosh this summer. I would like to thank Carey O'Donnell for arranging this flight and for "DABEAR" for taking me up in his CJ-6A. Tim, as in the other flight video, is flying his gorgeous red Yak-52. I can't remember the full name of the CJ-6A pilot, but can tell you his name is Keith - also another very nice gentleman. The name of the other Yak-52 pilot in this video also escapes me. I would like to send a thank you to ALL of the pilots in attendance that weekend that helped provide me with the opportunities to get video of CJ-6As and Yak-52s that I've always wanted to get - especially video featuring the growl of the Vedeneyev engines in the Yaks and the Zhouzhou engines in the CJ-6As. The M14P family is certainly one of the Worlds legendry aircraft engines, to a certain extent because of its exceptional record in world-class russian aerobatic competitions, but also because of its charismatic noise and high-power output for its weight. As the only radial engine still in production, it also has a great deal of historical interest. (MGigabiteM comments You might want to change the info "the only radial still in production" is incorrect. Rotec in Australia makes two radial engines; the R2800 and the R3600 which are 7 and 9 cylinders with 110 or 150 HP.) The Russian National Team began asking for more power and the result was the M14PF in which the power is increased to 400hp by changing the supercharger gearbox so that the supercharger is turned at 10.5 times engine speed rather than 8.25. This therefore uses the same supercharger and other systems, but turns the supercharger impeller at an extremely high 30000 rpm in order to produce the higher levels of boost necessary for greater power. The PF engine is now well-proven after some 15 years in service. In- service testing was done with the Russian National Team and the engine was principally used in competition aircraft, such as the Sukhoi, but now has much wider application in other Yaks. The PF is now cleared up to 500 hours TBO, with the only proviso that the normal 100 hour checks are done at 50 hour intervals.The only catch offered by the Murphy Moose over the deHavilland Beaver is that it is an <b>...</b>
