The Touhou Project is a series of danmaku shooters. Danmaku is a term than can be loosely translated (and quite aptly in my opinion) into "curtain of fire" or "bullet hell", thus denoting game were high density in bullet is more important than a lot of enemies. Super Marisa World - Yukari Yakumo
This is a replay of Stage 7-2-2 from Super Marisa World. This is far and away the hardest stage in the game, and I have only cleared it once (in this replay). Fans of older Mario games will recognize the designs for the various sections of the stage before the boss battle (for example, the first section is taken from World 4-1 in Super Mario Bros.) as well as Yukari's design being based on Lakitu. I am not sure if there is a specific Mario boss battle being imitated here, however. For those who have never seen this game before, the bullet spam ending sequence is actually harder than it looks; this clear was the result of about 4 or 5 hours aggregate play time on this one stage.
Super Marisa World - Yukari Yakumo 100SS
Oh my god... I can't believe I pulled this off. Anyway, here is a 100SS replay of me completing the Yukari Yakumo stage and battle while collecting all 100 stars, and not dying in the process. This is an absolutely brutal battle to pull off. First, being able to collect all 100 stars in the stage portion reliably took me over an hour. Just beating the battle took me another 2 hours, and then figuring out how to dodge the imitation of danmaku bounded field, as well as doing the first part of the battle with enough hits to spare, took at least another 6 hours. I'd added some annotations. They were made in HD mode, but they should look fine if you're not watching in HD.

Ran, whose name means "indigo" as in the color, is the shikigami of the youkai of boundaries and gaps Yukari Yakumo, who I'll beat... later. A shikigami is practically a familiar in the sense that is a servant to another being, in this case Yukari. I always thought of Ran as a very plain character (except for the mystery of how a Kyūbi ended as Yukari's pet/servant/slave). Even her design is plain, except for that weird hat of her. Is not my favorite character at all, not even in the top 30... Probably. A lot of Ran's spell cards make reference to Japanese culture, so I wont bother on explaining each of them.
