Do-It-Yourself Turbocharger Turbojet
This is a run-up of my home built turbocharger turbojet engine. Long, but maybe of some interest to other engine builders. It is quite old now and dated somewhat and I now know far more about jet engines than I did then. Please go easy on me guys... It is my first video! I would like to issue a challenge to all fellow Do it Yourself Turbojet engine builders and brushless electric R/C park flyer hobbiests/manufacturers out there. Please comment and discuss the feasibility of mounting a small "outrunner" style permanent magnet brushless electric motor to the compressor side of this and similar engines. I realize that shaft harmonics and bearing limitations will play a very significant role in whether or not such a motor/generator combination would hang together at 140000 RPM or more. Of course, associated power electronics with the ability to switch from starter motor to DC generator would need to be designed as well to efficiently (relatively speaking) produce electricity at these ultra high speeds. Such a device would mimic some of the hybrid turbocharger or "electrically assisted turbochargers" that have been developed by Garrett and others in recent years. These have been designed, developed and built to reduce "turbo lag" and recover wasted energy in the form of electricity with the intention of supplementing the charging system in vehicles. The Untouchables: Free Yourself (HQ)
The Untouchables (sometimes known as The UTs) are a soul/mod revival band from the Silver Lake, Los Angeles, California area. They formed in 1981 as part of the embryonic LA mod revival, after being inspired by the ska revival/punk rock band The Boxboys. Since some couldn't play instruments, they either hastily learned, or became vocalists. The original lineup included: Kevin Long (vocals), Chuck Askerneese (vocals), Terry Ellsworth (rhythm guitar), Clyde Grimes (guitar), Rob Lampron (drums), Herman Askerneese (bass) and Jerry Miller (vocals, timbales). After a shaky start playing at parties, the integrated septet were eventually booked at the ON Klub (known as the On to regulars). The band had guaranteed the club that they would pack the venue, and they did not disappoint. In middle of that year, they released their first 7" single, copies of which were snapped up by local mods. The Untouchables originally played covers such as "We Ain't Got Nothing Yet" (Blues Magoos), "Whatcha Gonna Do About It" (Small Faces) and "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" (Monkees) in addition to their own songs. Late in 1982, the band began a stint as the house band at the Roxy Theatre. Terry Ellsworth left the band in the summer of 1983, at the height of the California mod revival.
